If it's one whole consistent BPM throughout the whole song, MixMeister's really useful. I mean, if you get 101.50 BPM for a fast Sharpnel song, you know it's really 203 BPM.
If the song has BPM changes, kill yourself |

With my Vertex file, i used MixMeister. since its a Vertex remix, theres lotsa speed ups. what MM did was it gave me the first BPM of the song.... i had to figure out the bpm changes for the rest of the file.... |

Ooh, thanks for telling me that. That bpm change for every second really annoyed me. Hopefully there's an update that makes it more stable too since it crashes all the time.

No, Mixmeister can really be ridiculously off. Not by a simple division of the bpm, but by an amount that's far off from any sensible bpm for the song. This happens often when you have a song with a large amount of bpm changes but overall has a primary bpm. So even if the song for the most part has a steady beat, any offbeat/rubato-like sections will likely throw Mixmeister off track of the proper bpm.

Songs can also become off-beat during quiet or silenced parts of the song. MM takes the average BPM of the whole song, so if there's always a constant beat, then it's O.K. to be 100% sure that the BPM is correct (unless it's halved or doubled). However, if there are some parts of the song that are a bit quiet, then it never hurts to find out the BPM manually by simply playing the song over in Stepmania's edit mode.

Basically MixMeister shows (almost) all BPMs as 80-160 range.

Okay, so I have a question.
In the guitar solo for MOSAIC.WAV's Kimi Wa Nan Terabyte, when I sync it correctly and everything, it's basically a whole mass of 16ths, 32nds, 48ths, and a couple of 192nds- done on 0.3x and 0.5x (I can distinguish between each individual pickstroke, note, etc. just fine). When I play it on 1.0x, though, it seems completely wrong, as it sounds like it's just a mass of 16ths with a few 24ths. Would it be better to have it actually correct and be insanely hard or have it "sound" correct and have it somewhat hard? It seems awesome correctly synced though lol *edit* I played through it some more; if you're playing the steps and listening (on 1.0x), it seems wrong (too hard and whatever), but if you just sit and listen to it carefully it actually seems correct...

They never really create a massive wall of arrows, since it speeds up and down constantly...it flows pretty well when I do get rid of the jacks in it, though.

I've had the same issues with guitars, omg. There's lots of extra fuzz in guitar playing that you usually can't hear at normal speed but slowed down you can. It's just the nature of electric guitars. Step what feels right on 1x because that's what the ear can normally hear

Slower music speed is better for syncing unless it's very inaudible.
For example if it's an inconstant simple piano song, set it 0.2(write option)-0.3x and use assist tick. If you are used to it you can sync it with an accuracy of 5ms. BPM calculation from the wave profile of the music would be more accurate, needs some technique though. Last edited by jimerax; 02-19-2008 at 11:22 PM.. |

I'm not so sure that would make a good sim.
Maybe an ok easy one... Edit: Is it just me or does Szerencsétlen sound like In Da Club or whatever? Editt: Integraation did make a good sim. We just need to finish working on it...

It's a collab with SulferDragon, and it's really fun. I know Venetian Snares is overstepped blah blah but who cares.
