I think you'll find historically that -EVERYONE- thinks they could take on more of them then they actually could.

They consider how easy they would find it to beat up one 5-year old, and simply go "Multiplied by how much endurance I think I have" and come up with ridiculously high numbers.

The difficulty of fighting multiple opponents of any age is much more like exponential than linear, it gets much harder -much- faster than people realise.

Though the formulation of this question I was familar with specified that they got a full day of being shown how to work as a group against one large target, and you got one hour of being shown how to deal with being swarmed.

I mean, anyone who has young siblings/cousins, or has ever worked at a daycare/as a babysitter etc can tell you that even when kids aren't -trying- to take you down, even three or four of them can bowl you over unless you're actively trying to stop them.

I would estimate that the average person could probably handle about a dozen, maybe 15, and those who are in some combination of excellent shape, possessed of martial training, and willing to fight as dirty as they need to would probably max out at about 25.

Edit: I took the quiz and it said 30, but I don't think it is at all accurate.

More other edit: Everyone claiming that they're sure they could handle more than 30 is either confusing "at once" with "in a row" or just has no actual idea how tough it can be to knock out someone who is explicitly going to not be afraid of you.

Um...Hi...You do realise who this is posting right?

And anyways, on another forum I used to frequent that was populated almost entirely by friends of mine from the same city, we had weeks long discussions on all kinds of topics like this, zombie contingency plans, dragon attacks, the whole bit. We actually forumulated proper strategies and plans for dealing with this stuff, just for the absurdity of the anlysis.

Put more succinctly: I'm a gamer nerd, we actually -do- plan what to do when the zombies attack, why should trying to optimize our performance beating up 5 year olds be any different?

Don't know how many 5 year olds you've had the experience wrestling with but they don't weigh anything and have no balance or coordination. You can push over a group of 5 year olds pretty easily. Kicks to the face would also probably kill them or severely injure them to the point of being unable to get back up if you have good hard shoes on, so you could probably continue to take them down forever if you have any martial arts training and weight > 180 pounds or so, and have a good position (e.g. a corner), assuming you enjoyed killing children XD.

If you're surrounded that's another story...corners would be the most effective for just taking them out like flies. But really, for people with fighting experience and a good mass 5 year olds aren't going to do anything to you. Kimbo vs 1000 5 year olds...not going to make a difference how many of them are there, they're going to lose XD

QFT. And yes, I would probably score much higher due to the fact that there is also the option of going at them like Neo fighting the Smiths. Pile through a bunch, then pile back through. If you fall you're probably screwed.
