Speed Mods Work.

@Joe, screencutting is where you scroll your screen to hide a part of it, thus taking away a lot of the space. it gives you less time to react and is great for training reflexes. This was used before speedmods were coded and is still used by a lot of the elite players. You can also combine speedmods and screencutting with some effectiveness. It's all about personal choice. Personally, I like just using speedmods.

And as long as I'm here, I might as well update. My avg rank was at 4070 when this thread started. It's now at 1870. A lot of that has to do with the like 70 new songs that were released but I've definitely gotten better. I've about doubled my AAA count since this thread was started, and moved up to 1.50x and switched to spread last weekend after over 3.5 years playing one-handed. I've just fc'd beethoven, norgers, bubble bobble hillbilly, etc for the first time, my PA has gotten much better, and when I get more comfortable with spread the sky's the limit. And with Hammy giving me pointers, I see good things in the future.

I cant see how you can use mods with screen cut. I tried using 1.25 with a small cut and it was still difficult. Yet i can read 1.75 very well. I never knew what speed mods could do but after I got off screen cut it feels weird to go back. Chaz that some sick improvements keep it up. Hammy's pointers will definatley help

Since I discovered that the speedmods had been implemented, I started using 1.5x and my score improvement went trough the roof. I always play 1.5x and it works for me on all songs.

As far as 1x screencut .. it's definitely a way to make things harder .. but not to make the song easier to read (unless I'm wrong)..

morphs, screen-cutting basically accomplishes exactly what speedmods do, remove arrows from the screen so you can concentrate on hitting the few you can see. a lot of the older players use it because speedmods haven't been around for long. it's all a matter of preference which style you use, but both have been proven to work.

I just made the permanent jump from 1.25 to 1.5 and have noticed a huge difference. I Fc'd Youkoso! Himitsu no suzume bara ya!, and vastly improved my lvl rank in songs that tend to plauge me like CIA, Delirium, EHHS, Balloon Fever and FotBB. My avg. rank is now 1,631, and it was in the 1700's like 3 days ago before i switched.
