Default FFR versus my internet

I have high speed internet, yet playing FFR, I get these random pauses, that lead to unneeded misses. I have tried the following:

- Clearing my cache
- Turning my computer off and letting it rest for a few days
- Increasing my browser speed
- Taking every last program except for firefox (basically), putting a copy of all of them on a backup disk, then deleting them off my computer

What else can I try?

Try making sure you don't have too many other programs running.

Lowering quality if you really haven't tried that yet, also the Firefox 3 Alpha 5 seems to play FFR much much smoother for me, so definitely try that.. (Firefox 2 current/stable plays FFR the slowest/worst out of all the other browsers I've tried)

I don't think that is a problem.

I just updated it to the latest version and switched to low quality. Now it doesn't freeze, but random notes will stop a little before it reaches the top arrows and it looks like a mini freeze. I can still hit the note fine, but it looks kind of annoying and throws me off. I would take a ss of it, but for some reason if I don't the fake freeze note, it acts as multiple misses and fails the song.

This is really awkward....

Edit: Double post for the win... I guess.

It's called lag. Can you give us some specifications on your computer and your internet connection? If you don't know that, just look down at your tower, if the case is light grey and it has a sticker that reads: Pentium on it, chances are you need a better computer, if you have a piece of string in your ethernet port with the other end leading to your neighbours house, you should call your ISP.

Uh.. geez.. have you updated flash as well?
How fast is your processor? lol

edit:Also, does FF seem to be trying to load something when it lags like that? What you're describing happens to me if I try to play in Opera, and I can see "connecting to..." etc etc in the status bar when it happens, not that I would now how to fix that though ...

I will look at a couple of these specifics and get back to you all tomorrow errrrrr.... later today. My mom took the light bulbs out of my room to force me to go to bed and I can't find a flashlight, thus I can't read anything on my tower.

Thanks for all of your help everyone.

You're welcome, that new engine of theirs is really awesome, even this early in development.

Wow, I just re-read this and understood lol

But actually the whole internet sharing thing was the problem. I guess I will have to deal with the lag when my sister has her laptop running, and play normally when she has it shut off.

You shouldn't really need a flashlight to look at your computer's specs; chunky was kind of kidding around. If you're running XP the easiest way would be to right click my computer and go to properties; near the bottom of that you should be able to see your processor speed and ram. Those are arguably the two most important specs.

Problem with Alpha builds is. None of the add-ons are compatible. Is there a way to make Current build and Alpha installed at same time?

I'm not sure about installing both at the same time, but you can force compatibility with your add ons with this : http://www.oxymoronical.com/web/firefox/nightly

Just install, restart then Tools > Add-ons > Make All Compatible
some functions might break but everything does usually work.

Though if you manage get both installed at the same time let me know. lol
