![]() And basically each of those games you listed off is only 1 part of the skill required in a balanced WGT game... Bound games=precise clicks/timing... need in WGT Defense games= strategic placement/resource management... need in WGT Impossible Scenarios= Micro... need in WGT Last edited by SOS-Bam; 07-3-2007 at 07:45 PM.. |

It was in a Blizzard newsletter that it's not going to be graphical intense. Graphics are good but not super awesome or anything and take into consideration it might be released in about two years.

Haha ... You're thinking too big man.
Not everyone who plays Starcraft wants to become a pro-gamer. Some people just want to play for fun, or get really good at ONE aspect of the game, not everything. |

...and to Fido, Blizzard always does a good job balancing graphics with the current "norm" for what compuetrs will handle, and I'm sure with todays modern standards SC2 will have selectable detail in how good you want to the graphics to look compared to what your comp can handle. |

I used to play it a lot. APM was around 200 and I could go 10-20+ rounds or so on most pgt/wgt maps like luna without losing against people on battle.net. And then I was virtually undefeated on the fastest possible money map XD
But yea I havn't played forever and probably suck now but I might be interesting in a game ;o Big game hunters is a horrible map. If you're going to play money at least play fastest. It's impossible to win against a strong turtle on BGH because there isn't enough room for ground units half the time. The best build for fastest for toss is definitely to double nexus right off the bat and then mass 50+++ gateways right out into the center of the map D: (don't forget to cannon around your nex ^_^). As long as you've got them all rallied into the other persons base, you can win easily because you'll have so much money from the double nex you can just go around clicking d and z on your gates madly. But it requires a level of skill to do this fast enough. Alternatively if the opponent is actually good you can start sending probes off to empty sections of the map and fill them with stargates. It can get pretty hectic though with all the hotkeying, building and microing. I remember once I was playing whiteboy and ended up hitting like 1000+ APM peaks while doing this XD

I agree BGH is a terrible map... not because of the turtling aspect, but because it's completely unbalanced... one base has a cliff behind it where terran can drop tanks, and another base has an expo SHARED with another base... very poorly made, don't even know why so many people like it. xD

I was so addicted to that in middle school... I sometimes get the urge to play it sometimes still. Maybe its because I'm Korean or something...

APM doesn't really show how good you are. I have a friend who can do roughly ~180-190 APM, but I usually beat him (in a melee match). And I'm usually at 90-100-ish. Sure, APM can mean you can multi-task efficiently, or micro-manage really well. But low APM can achieve the same things: it's just more accurate/strategic clicking. I do agree: BGH is a pretty bad map. The layout is uneven, and you can turtle in your base with almost any race. Fastest/BGH maps do require skill. It's largely focused on how well you can manage a large army, rather than micromanagement and resource management. I don't play well at fastest maps (well, haven't played one in ~7 months), because I'm pretty bad at managing a large army size. Most of the games I win in regular melee are done in the first 10-15 minutes. Ha, went online yesterday and played a Extremely Impossible II game. That game is like... a step beyond impossible scenarios. o.o;;

But uh there's just not enough room on the map to handle 200 units. Your units get all caught up in the chokes and you can't break through. It's just a regular map called hunters which they jacked up with resources <_> But it's so popular I guess because it's a classic people used to play the most a long time ago. Hunters was really popular back in the day. Same with lost temple. LT is a horribly imbalanced map compared to like luna but people play it all the time anyway so they can abuse terran tanks > ![]() Quote:
A lot of people think a high apm a lone and not actually using a high apm properly makes them look cool, so they spam hotkeys and stuff and yea they just look stupid when they lose to someone with a far lower apm ![]()
