Except actual anime porn, not the crap you see on the internet the real deal. Is totaly discusting and your not gonna wanna watch none of that. Just seeing a couple of trailers is enough to make you say, "OK, NO I'm not gettin THAT!" The HBO stuff's WAY better to watch.

I'm after some bad A@$ characters and fight scenes and the characters appeal to me if there is cussing (it can be censored for all the wusses). Story depth is very important. The ones that seek some life meaning tend to have major story depth so those hook me quite well. I didn't vote on comedy but anime were some idiot is trying to do something cool and totally biffs it are ones that get me too.

Story is a good thing, but nowadays, no matter how original a story is, someone can group it somewhere. Everything else(awesome fights, good comedy, etc.) is a plus.

I would have to say violence... I'm just strange... Then, of course, it can also have romance, fighting, story depth, hot characters, and life meaning. Of course violence and romance sorta kinda don't go hand-in-hand... -_-'

Deep engaging stories that make me get involved with the characters are more my thing. Action scenes are a perk as well. A good example of this would be Ergo Proxy.

I mostly like animes with three things:

1. Some type of action. Doesn't matter if it's fighting or flying through space on a ship at breakneck speeds.

2. A good story. Something that isn't like we need to go to this place but this person is trying to stop us. Third one kinda ties in with this by having...

3. Characters that you care for. When they make those hard decisions between life and death, or when they're on their deathbed and make you feel for them. Those ones that put a tear in your heart. *nods* Such drama.

I personnally really like an anime that has an important character that ends up dead and the hero goes after the villain for what he did. Its even better when the hero finds the villain, thinks he can beat the hero, and gets his A^& laid out. Any show that has a presentation of this senarior gets a point in my books.

I like comedy and romance anime's, the romance ones I can relate to kind of and I love to laugh so comedy is a plus.

action as in Shakugan no Shana, comedy as in Lucky Star/Azumanga Daioh, violence as in Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni/School Days, story depth as in Fullmetal Alchemist, life meaning as in Kimi ga Nozomu Eien/Air/Kanon/CLANNAD. i didnt pick hot characters, but recently all the animes have tareme moes in them... there r some characters i like in appearance like Yukina Tomoe, Makina Tomoe, Kagami Hiiragi and some others but they rnt real after all, and i gotta keep that in mind...

but basically, i watch anime to get a momentary relief from reality... enveloped by imagination and surrealism

Basically what makes a good anime in my opinion are 4 things

1: Alot of comedy and humor
2: Randomness. Which adds to the comedy and humor
3: A well thought out line of characters for the anime that just "fit"
4: Ninjas. lol

I pretty much like the animes FLCL, Lucky Star, Azumanga, Hare and Guu (much randomness), and Naruto (ninjas)

Also, I don't know how I remembered this, but I believe the whole "Sex with tentacles thing" was from a movie (or series of movies I believe) either called "Heavy Metal" or "Dirty Pair".

Hmm....my three anime/manga are Death Note, FMA, and Naruto (in order)
