Teenager = Thirteen to nineteen.
Woo, there is a reason why they have "teen" in the numbers names for 13-19. ~Tsugomaru |

I wish pep rallies would include having some huge guy stand in the middle of the gym and challenge anyone to come fight him. That would get me pepped up.

that would rock, watching everyone get their ass beat, hahahaha. Id prolly go fight him for the hell of it, even though id prolly get killed. My pep rallies were fairly boring, i mean, we had relays and contests to see which class would win (seniors ALWAYS won, which sucked until i was a senior, then it ROCKED, but i still didn care). basically the main plus side was just talking to friends and listening to the overly loud music, but i like all music so whatever they played i liked. the football team intros were pretty boring, except when one of the guys came out with a lasso and tripped, falling flat on his face. i rofld.

Our school has an hour long assembly. It isn't entirely pain, a third of it is watching a slideshow. I'm in it, so it might mean something to me.

I mean, pep rallys are so kewl lol. You sit in bleachers and watch people run around and shout things about school spirit. Because apparently living in the geographical residence required to attend this school makes me proud. PS. Thee is such a cool word, use it correctly. |

Yes, because the initial post refers to every internet denizen ever, including those who enjoy pep rallies, or at least don't mind them.

Put it this way; if you measure things in Kilometers and Celsius, you've evolved past the point of Pep Rallies.

I've only been to one pep rally and it pretty much had nothing to do with pep at all e_e
The only thing worth watching at it was all the over weight male teachers jump up and down in chearleading outfits (long story don't ask) P.S(_) School has no gender, it reproduces with a cloud of spores ^D^

I always hated pep rallies.
and dances. And Uniforms are a hassle. And too expensive for parents etc. They were 'going to get uniforms' at my high school for like 8 years that I knew of. hah.

some of you guys are complaining that rallies and dances don't matter......
i don't know about you guys, but we have generally high standards in my school, and it ain't easy. about the only time we get breaks are either dances (which lowerclassmen only get guaranteed Homecoming), pep rallies (which only last for the marching season), and football games, which again only last for the marching season, which is only 2 marking periods long different schools have different ways of life. from my point of view, it seems like ya'll are trying to say that pep rallies, dances, and other school sponsored activities are wasted time to everyone, which isn't necessarily true ya'll may not mean entirely what ya'll say, but i spend most of my forum time at VGDC, and there have been too many occasions where people say or do the wrong things. most of the time, they're not even on purpose so what i guess i'm trying to say is to not look ignorant to other forum members' way of life |

I would agree with you about not being ignorant to other people's thoughts, but I would also say that many rallies are just excuses to get out of class and give people something to do when the rallies don't appear to serve any real purpose. Most people probably just hang out with their friends when they go to dances and not even dance while they are there. Plus, you have to pay to get into these things, which sucks because I could usually hang with friends for free. I understand that many people like to go to these school events and show their spirit and I think that is cool of them, but it would be so much nicer if schools held events that were more relevant. Also, back to the original topic, it does seem like school officials should lighten up and stop giving empty threats all the time. Oh well, not much you can do about it considering that school directors never listen to student suggestions no matter how much they say our input is important. It's stupid nonetheless, schools don't seem to do a lot more than make empty threats and promises(at least in my experience). >_<

at Stony Point High School, pep rallies aren't excuses to get out of class - it's a chance to get down but yes, the whole dance thing is true. maybe it's the fact that deep down inside, they wanna boogie down 'till they piss themselves, but they aren't confident enough also, dances for us (considering we don't have any teen clubs nearby) are quite rare, no matter which school it is, and would like to chill there than trying to get a ****ty PS2 to work at home edit: dances and other stuff shouldn't be banned. in my opinion, just weekends aren't enough breaks for us |
