Hooray for more connotations of the word gay! I'm not one of those stuck up homosexuals anyways, it doesn't bother me but the use of the word probably bothers others, homosexual or not. Stop being so lenient with the word. Anyways, school dances getting cancelled? OH NOES!!! Go to a different school's dances then, not that hard. OH NO!! NO MORE PEP RALLIES!!!! If the only reason you like them is because you can "bang your girlfriend" (which I honestly doubt haha), just ditch class to do it. It isn't like you are learning anything anyways AMIRITE? Haha Internet rants are one thing but when they are pointless and immautre like this, it just makes me laugh.

God forbid people like skipping out on deafening hour long chants for sports players that'll wrap their cars around trees driving drunk after the losing/victory game on Friday.

Dammit, Mal, "deafening."

But yeah, stereotypical jocks are also stereotypically moronic.

No breakfast + 9 hours of work = I'm tired. Sorry about the slipup. Won't happen again.

We had these nice, gigantic, 2-hour long awards ceremonies for all the sports teams each season.

I spent all three in senior year playing video games on a big screen projector in an empty classroom with my friends.

Good times.

Oh hay that was my last pep rally too.

Since I was the assistant Server Administrator in the school, I had an all-access / perfect excuse to be anywhere and do anything. So what do I do? I bring my Gamecube into the server room and chill with a few friends for two hours.

Before I had a cop-out for pep rallies I would just meet up with those same friends and get as high up / far back as possible to get away from the noise and actually be able to do things, like play GBA games.

I can think of plenty of ways, actually, and I don't even have to leave the school.

Anyway, all of your schools suck if your pep rallies were only about getting pumped for the sports team. We did so much more at ours. The game the next day was more an excuse to have it that day than anything else.

My school raised money by voting on who which teacher would kiss a pig. There were about 9 nominees and each raised about 50 dollars. The poor pig was flipping out because of the noise. It ended up that the principal along with two other teachers had to kiss it. Somebody stuck in fifty dollars on the very last voting day into the principal's bucket, likely by the winning (actually losing) teachers. It was overall entertaining...for about 2 seconds.
We also have some eating contests and stuff like that.
Even so, it's usually monotonous (uh oh big word) and lasts for approximately one quarter of the school day.
Oh wait, this is about rebelling because of homosexual schools, not pep rallies. Sorry about that.

Psh. I could careless if my school took away dances and the like seeing as how they have an attendance of 2/6 of the entire school and provide DJs with no concept of what a good dance song is.. We already have a strict dress code. My only real problem with school is that only 2 of my six classes are relevant to my life; the rest just waste my time.

No shut-up they suck.

The only reason I look forward to pep rallies is because we have shortened days on the days we have pep rallies.

I plan on somehow getting out of going to it. I'll find a way, which will probably involve me going into the theater's control room with my Nintendo DS with a few other kids since I hope I'll get a key to it by my junior year.

Pep rallies aren't even that bad. It is more amusing watching the ASB people frantically running around doing last minute things when nobody really cares. At least the pep rallies are more fun then class. You would rather be in a history lecture then laughing at retards? What's wrong with you? Our rallies rarely last 2 hours, but they do last a good amount of time. Just talk with friends; there is no need to go off and play your gamecube or whatever. It's only an hour or two. Live with it.

Uniforms aren't so bad... -_- I've had to wear them from kindergarden to 8th. They grow on you :/

My school's pep rallies are about 20 mins long, and just announce everyone on the sports team. I don't mind, I run track, so it's ok I guess.

The staff is pretty relaxed about most things that go on in the school, but we don't have many privelidges. At no time may we leave a study hall to visit another room, nor can we leave the building or go into any form of courtyard. Study Halls are stated to be a quiet place where work is done, and it is usually enforced rather strictly. Lunch is 18 minutes long, which I guess is ok. I'm jealous of the previously mentioned situations in which the schools were big and allowed stuff like that.

Also, to whoever started this thread: That is a terrible idea. Rioting is an immature solution to the problem, and you are just trying to act, "cool and rebel", when in reality you look like a fool. Your school can not enforce uniforms. Banning the dances is a possibility, and I disagree with some of the people in here who say that's no big deal. While I'm not one who's particularly fond of dances, some people are. Then again, you get what you deserve I suppose. I'm with Squeek on the empty threat gesture.

What the school should have done was realize the immaturity of the school, and realize what their reaction would be to said threats(which is pretty much the reaction of whoever started the thread) and come up with a different solution to the problem.

If school is so gay, then drop out, 1 less person I need to compete against in the real world.

The only thing I found more entertaining than a history lecture at my last (and first) pep rally was the gymnastics team.

Wow. Our study hall teacher let's us do nearly anything except wander the hallway aimlessly ("nearly anything" as in anything that doesn't distract other students), and supposedly most of the other study halls in our school are only slightly worse than that.

Lunch here is a full 40-something-minute period. It takes a good 15 minutes just to get lunch sometimes; I can't imagine an 18 minute lunch!

Oh man, I didn't mean to bash the people who LIKE going to them. I also see them as fun events that provide a diversion to school (even though ours were mainly about getting pumped.)

I just don't like really loud music or all the screaming that goes on.

But yeah, I didn't mean to say that everyone should hate them. I was just trying to give overty sarcastic reasoning as to why people would dislike them.

Whereas you enjoyed them SO MUCH you made it seem like people on the internet were losers for not liking them, or people that spend time online are somehow freakishly different from you.

Asshat.

Gets me out of Psychology, having one on friday. I don't mind it. I just grab the highest seat in the bleachers and talk with friends the whole time. I think it gets me out of History too for half the block.

Two hours of screaming prepubescent girls is okay in my books.

Love the LG's.
