Then you proceed to do this: Do you think this post of yours is worth a +1? And is it somehow not a worthless post on your part? |

Dude, I'm sick of it too, but that's ok because FFR has a magical place called the garbage bin. Noobs don't go there and it's funny. Oh, and all this Devonin knocking is retarded. You guys only think he thinks he knows everything because your mind is telling you that. Look at Rubix, he's always being hated for being really smart. Well, ****ing deal, because there are smarter people out there then you, and there's no need to have be all jealous about it.

All of you are assessing the effects of an individual post. I think in order to really understand the main problem here, we need to think on a 'bigger' scale. Here is what I think. I think that in order to understand what the main problem is, we need to think on a 'bigger' scale. Individual posting isn't the problem.. the internet is full of sarcastic assholes. It's bad topics that destroy forums. A few bad topics, yeah, bound to happen, but go look through CC. It's full of nonsensical threads about "post your favorite musician". "Post about the previous users avatar". Threads like these attract postwhoring and spam. How on Earth are you supposed to build any decent conversation in a thread like that? What's the point on even having it? |

And, yes, it's a worthless post. And along your point, an introduction thread isn't usually contentfull. :\

He shortens the length of bans because you talk to him instead of ban evading and complaining to the rest of the forum.

Edit: On another note, I've made around 60 posts in Avatar/signature/vote/3word/lastletter and a few other ones. Total, not each. I'd say that is a pretty low number. 2693 - 60 2633 Regular and potentially pointful posts. Now take off another 100 or so from welcome threads, and you still have over 2000.

I don't see how any of you got your facts on Devonin. My personal experience, I was banned during a game of TWG. Devonin allowed me to ban evade for the game-but the game only. You also just lost the game.
As for the state of FFR, I think it's just our user base is becoming more youth filled (like borderline UUA) |

I don't see how this OP was worth making a thread for in the first place. -_-
I read some other parts of this thread... but quickly got bored. I support devonin.

There's a point of balance between carefree, mod-less anarchy and SomethingAwful-style "pay-to-register-then-extremely-harsh-moderation," which FFR needs to achieve. Right now, it seems that we're currently more towards the anarchistic side, and need to move toward being more strict. Operation Iron Law was an attempt at this, but it doesn't seem like it worked.
I think the purpose that Chit-Chat serves needs to be reevaluated. To use another example from Something Awful, I think CC should serve the same purpose as GBS: topics that are content-filled and discussion-worthy, but which don't specifically fall into a category handled by other forums (e.g., FFR stuff goes in the R1 forum, gaming stuff in GVG). Right now, it seems that people are using this forum as a "shoot the breeze" area in which they can talk about whatever. That shouldn't be the case--we have the chat for that. As for TGB, I wasn't around during the "glory days" that the TGB regulars mention, when people feared posting in the forum because of the repercussions for not being funny, when the forum itself contained a lot of funny content. It would seem that that role now belongs to FFYa. Right now, TGB is more like the lounge for well-known forum members. Is this a problem? Not necessarily, I don't think. Those well-known members have long since stopped caring about post count or being appreciated, as the former is irrelevant and the latter has already been accomplished. I occasionally post in TGB to point out something that others may have missed, or share a discovery which I believe is at least somewhat funny. I haven't yet been threatened with a Gban, so I like to think I've done something worthwhile. Anyway, about Devonin. I've never had a problem with him. From my experiences, he's always been level-headed, objective, and reasonable, which I believe is necessary in a moderator. Though, I do get jealous of his logic and debating skills ![]() |

I have a great idea. Make it to where forum games are no post count +1s.
With the exception of 1mill get, which I should probably go do right now. <.< |

These are the kind of posts I hate. They don't contribute at all.
About those rate the above persons avatar/siggy, there are some people who post reasons for their score, and I believe what we have to do instead of post-whoring all of the time. You know, like this: Or even this: Both explains why the the gave that rating, so it doesn't seem like it's post-whoring. Also, about Devonin, I don't think he bad in any way. I like the way he is. He contributes, he bans those that needs to be banned, and if you approach him the right way, he is reasonable and may shorten or even lift your ban. Devonin = 10/10
