![]() There's been a lot of buzz about this recently, I had a very lengthy talk with RWhiteGoose (he used to work on this kind of stuff for AGDQ a LONG time ago) and from what I hear is that there was a recent change in staff and that's probably a strong suit case for why the opinion of the process is so sour right now.
Working on implementing stuff like bid wars to get certains runs even SUBMITTED into AGDQ because it's ez & fast money that will go directly towards the fundraiser, and from the talk I've had with the lot of runners 1 or 2 days ago, they're doing it for the money, not necessarily for the community. Like, this stuff has been happening for awhile now, at least 3 years, and a lot of speedrunners are fed up about it but no one has the ability to make the move it takes to shut down AGDQ and start up a new charity event and doing it correctly. I've heard from a number of sources that most people are going to let this AGDQ slide with what they're doing, and see what happens from it. If it doesn't turn out as well as expected, there may be an actual donger riot to start up a new event under different staff, possibly funded the first time around by kickstarter etc., and then funded by the community from there on out depending on how well that plan goes. As it is right now, practically 75-80% of submissions have been rejected. I could understand 50 or 60% under serious circumstances, but 80% is quite a lot to ignore, especially when you're ignoring name brand titles like Spyro, Yoshi's Island, and Final Fantasy. I'm still incredibly salty that Trihex's Yoshi's Island got rejected because it was "too boring". edit: ![]() about 75-80% of runs ignored, 60% of runtime ignored Last edited by gold stinger; 10-15-2015 at 02:13 PM.. |
