I don't see it as a wording issue because your intent seems pretty clear.

"Give me something to read you off of"
"Basically, play the game"
"Surely, you have some players"

These all imply that there has been no information given whatsoever, not that it exists but is lackluster as you're arguing now. Like, explain to me how, "Surely, you have some players who lean one way or another in terms of alignment," meant lackluster reads and not no reads at all.
