Re: Why most people don't finish video games

anyone that spends $30 on a game and doesn't complete it is a noob and needs to give me all their games

anyone that buys football games needs to die

anyone that plays shorter games in place of longer games is still spending time playing games and needs to get their head out of their vagina and actually play some good games

anyone that plays multiplayer games ONLY either has never played a good single player game, or has beaten all their single player games and has nothing else to do and needs money to buy more. But typically I think it's the never played a good single player game part.

Maybe this helps explain why most recent titles have maybe 6-8 hours of actual playtime before you beat them.
This is about the same for me. Some games that really annoy me I'll just end up ragequitting and everything else I can beat pretty decently (wouldn't necessarily
go for the 100% because that takes up too much of my time).
      Everyday I'm shufflin'

New tournament hopefully coming up in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more details.

Yeah, this. Only a select few games have an interesting multiplayer that's worth putting more than 3 hours into. I mean, really does anyone still play Medal of Honor MP?

Developers are more and more frequently putting all the effort into multiplayer thinking their game will be the one that will replace Call of Duty or World of Warcraft. Ninety-nine times out of a hundred that's not true, and if the single player is no good, the end result is a shitty game that fades into obscurity three months after its initial release.

Re: Why most people don't finish video games

Whenever I have children that want to play video games I am going to make them play a certain number of classic games from previous console generations before they can play modern games.

Re: Why most people don't finish video games

PS3, my main console, has the trophy system, so you get platinums for 100%-ing games. I think my brother and I together collectively have 20 (upper-teens without a doubt). So, I enjoy completing a game.

In fact, I pulled out my PS2 and put in Kingdom Hearts during the last week of summer vacation just to play a IMO high quality game (or at least fun). Took 25 hours to beat the whole thing. I skipped full trinities and full dalmatians, but everything else I did.

Then I put in Kingdom Hearts 2. A game that I apparently beat but had very little recollection of it. Spent 40+ hours on it (a lot was cinematics). Had the same feel as KH1 so it wasn't a burden to play. As far as I know, there was nothing I missed. I level capped, fully synthesized, Pooh booked, etc.

When I play CoD or other games with both campaigns and multiplayer support, I almost always play the campaign first. Being a trophy whore, however, I figure, the online might die, so let's get those trophies first 'cause I'll always have the campaign.

Only game I can think of that I own and didn't finish fully was FF8 because the final disk got scratched to bits. Glitched during the final boss battles, too.

tl;dr Finish your games, or at least try the campaign. Waste of money IMO otherwise.

When the game isn't fun for you anymore, take a break. It's not a job, nobody here is professional and getting paid to play and force themselves to constantly improve... it's a game.

My friend and I pretty much share an Xbox Live account and play on it all the time. We shoot for as many achievements as we can and always aim for 100%. We just broke 50k gamerscore last week.

I don't know about you guys, but I started not liking the newer Final Fantasy games after FFX. I've played II, V, VII, VIII, IX, and X. I played a little of XII but I didn't really enjoy it. I almost completed most of the titles but never could finish because the PS2 I had wasn't backwards compatible and the PS1 wasn't working properly anymore. I wanted to finish VII, VIII and IX which I got to the very last hour of game play on both but couldn't due to this issue. It's too late for me now, though. :P Until I get a steady source of income, at least.

FFXIII-2 is supposed to be "better" but better than what, I don't know... Anyway, FF games of late have been pretty linear, so hopefully XIV will rectify that.

I thought you could find a good PS1 on eBay for under $30? Mine still works; maybe I'll let you borrow it. :P
