Why is this thread treated as if something is wrong?

If I was a new user who never posted on this site before, it's bastardized threads like these that would discourage me from posting a score, or even participate in the community. If people are wondering why few "run-of-the-mill" scores are posted on the FFR Scores thread, it might be due to such an atmosphere of discouragement (as well as lack of recognition). I'm only referring to some aspects of this thread btw.

New users should feel comfortable in congregating amongst themselves and form their own groups. Otherwise, it's the same old people that post on these forums.

Regardless... that's what the FFR Scores thread is for. People who take good scores as a discouragement will fail. People who take it as inspiration will succeed. I guarantee if a newbie posted a score in the FFR scores thread it would be recognized.

Plus the title of this thread isn't very welcoming as a "post your scores here" thread.

Well, I'm very new to the game. I've experienced my share of being roflstomped in multiplayer.

I've been working my ass off trying to improve though in the past few weeks. I'll probably still beat you in multiplayer, judging from your profile stats.

I'm usually up for a game though. We can pick a game difficulty we both enjoy. Only problem might be time zone (I live in Europe). I'll add you as a friend

rushy, I take it that this thread was created more or less for the purpose of gathering new users together as opposed to strictly showing off scores. I still fail to see what's wrong. This thread serves the purpose of new users gathering more confidence moreso than the scores thread would. That's perhaps the biggest difference. It's less of a medium for posting scores, but it's a better medium for newbies to get together.

I posted VC AAA's in that thread and no one said a word. It's only the ridiculous scores that get noticed anymore.

There used to be a lot more newer players in MP and I think they'll come around again more once it's actually back up on the main site. There's a lot of people that play and never even look at the forums so they may not know that there's a special link to play on MP right now.

It's obnoxious that no one seems to care about players of mid or lower skill level. Those who can get perfect scores on upper-level 10s or better will get noticed, everyone else gets left in the dust.

And just to clarify:

This thread has a main purpose for the newbies of FFR who arent those master guru AAA recognition searchers. It isnt so the people who can't complete a challenging song can compare scores and cut on eachother, it's to meet other people on the same level so that they can sort of practice with eachother, become friendlier, and play with eachother. I could care less if I see someone playing on here for 6 years AAA the mega-hardest song in the world, because me or any of the people that this thread is supposed to draw cant relate and or compare. So if you still need me to clarify on what this thread is for, dont be afraid to ask your questions. <3

That's because there's been a Rubix mentality going on, which is also why FFR right now is pretty pointless until new files come in. Subjectivemanias alert !_!

I really am in full support of a thread for the players that want to improve but still aren't able to be noticed in the regular score thread. This would allow more players to get a chance to see others that may be potential rivals. I mean really, would you want to try improve and try to AAA a level 9 when you're not being noticed for your efforts when all these other players are getting AAA's on 11 or above and getting all the attention and there seems to be nobody else? I can guarantee a lot of new names are going to come in with another thread and they're going to be recognized much more. I would even go to the thread and check up on new players, because the names I've been seeing are the same and I want to see others. It would also be a good hangout place for them.

I've suggested it several times. The only reason I haven't is that I suspect either, the experts come in and badmouth the scores / post much better scores so as to feel all special and important (idiots) or it ends up basically being "the next top 1%" posting who aren't in the top 1% who post in FFR scores.

I'd like to see a thread where people who are happy about AAA'ing 5s can come post and be congratulated and encouraged, but Brag Board as a section is so full of itself, that I'm not sure it would work.

Maybe we could make a score sticky in the newbie forum. :P

the former'll definitely happen at some point, or at the very least it'll be dumbass elite players posting missflags on FGOs saying 'hurr durr im terrbl look at rank' or some players posting in the current FFR scores thread that are AAAing 9s and low 10s thinking that they can't compete with the other players so why not go dominate some other thread? (and I know all the players who'd do this based on their internet personalities lmao)

regardless, an amateur FFR scores thread needs to be created...like dossar said, it gets really boring seeing all the same people posting over and over again

this'll probably even spark tournament ideas (pairing an FFR vet with an amateur and competing in teams, etc.) and these guys'll actually have the motivation to post scores and get better at the game instead of adopting that mentality of 'ohp, never gonna be that good, might as well give up now'
