There should be an option not to have characters to reduce lag, and not have characters show up on your profile.

Other than that, I support and encourage this idea.

Going out to all the Admins: If the character system was totally awesome, it would give all those experienced players a place to spend their like 200k credits lol, I would probably recommend about 10 of my friends to play the game (possible subscribers $$!)
It would also be something NEW for a change.

The game has stayed the same for quite a while, there needs to be changes or people will stop playing. Since you update the front page every now and then, I know you can scrounge up a graphics designer. If for some odd reason you can't, there are many volunteers on the site who will be more than willing to help make the game better.

do you realize that the reason the current ffr shop does not work is because re-coding it would be extremely tedious and take hours? what makes you think anyone would even consider adding a frivolous feature like this?

pay me $120 per work hour and $80 per meeting hour and i'll code your character stuff rofl

I read over the first post, but didn't read through all of the thread, so sorry if I am just repeating someone's thoughts.

I would personally be happy with just having my avatar shown at the results screen and in the MP rooms. I never did like those characters, since they never related to my tastes, and it would take a lot of options to fit everyones tastes. Buying items for your character like swords and...whatever...I dunno, seems kind of pointless in the context of FFR, haha. I guess if people want to dress up some guy or girl for FFR, then okay. As long as the option to not have a character was there, I would be fine.

But yeah, like I said, avatars work for me because I have an infinite amount of choices and our avatars really express our tastes. I'm not against this, but I'm not necessarily for it at this point in time. As long as the coding is easy to do, it doesn't slow down the game or make it too much bigger in size, and it's not time consuming, then I suppose it wouldn't hurt.

Yeah. Add an option to buy "avatar" as one of your characters.

Yeah I guess there shouldn't be any wielding involved. But, it would be nice to have a flashy costume with at least the sword in its sheath somewhere.

EDIT: I think I said this before: Having an avatar as a "character" could be an option. But there are also characters, too. /end edit.

Just a random thought: I've noticed people's daily support going down. It's probably because of all these other suggestion threads recently. It disappoints me. As a result, there's nothing much to do to stop it. I've also noticed that some of my 1000% sug. supporters were taking down this link in their siggy. I highly disregard this. For one thing, the list will be inaccurate, and the next thing, less and less people will become unaware of my thoughts. (especially with all the other suggestions around to distract them D By experiencing these things, I guess the support income rate was already at its peak awhile ago and was already dropping some time ago (perhaps recently). Although there was a slight hesitation in the downfall when I mentioned pic links, it still didn't reverse it. What a shame. I suppose I'll have to do more, and use more accurate pictures; not poorly shopped pictures. Also, that one thread where Tassel mentioned that characters and SKINS were highly unlikely, also got me disappointed. Although that's just tassel, I know there are many more admins that would like to hear about this.

Do not forget, It's not ONLY about the characters, you guys. It's about FFR's growth. And if seeing this implemented this site has the potential to increase its active population by 10 fold. Not only that, but the incoming revenues also. That's why some of you people supported this idea. Here's an example of a well-known simartist that said something like I did:

I supported the character thing because most sites use it for their income, plus it doesn't look bad for users at least.

Sure this may not relate to the game itself, but it is a pretty attractive idea to other people. At least, in my case perspective. (I say this using experiences from other sites that have done something like this;that is, customizing characters).
