    Windows 8 build leaked

    No links to sites to download illegal content.
    Pretty tempted to find a copy and attempt an install but in reality I know I'm far too lazy and apathetic to actually go through the effort of installing an OS in alpha for no reason other than "I can."

          This BETA is old. I doubt it will be much different from Windows 7 at this point, and probably filled with bugs and fail.

          I'm looking forward to the RC though.

              I don't really see this as much of an improvement. At least the listen known features seems rather lame.

                      Windows app marketplace = the internet.

                      I don't understand the need to downsize full windows applications into ones that do next-to-nothing.

                                  While the interface usually gets a make-over between versions of windows, casual users will rarely ever see any actual differences since microsoft likes to keep pretty consistent architecture.

                                  Most of the technical differences lie in security, networking, drivers, etc.

                                      I heard IE 10 and other functions aren't going to have support for Vista in the future. Why can't they just hold on to a great OS like XP for years to come? What's the competition? Mac?

                                          The reason they won't support Vista would be because if it did IE10 would be limited to what Windows Vista is capable of. The problem with holding onto something as old as XP for so long is it isn't able to make use of more modern hardware, and lacks the improvements newer Windows Vista/7 has. Mac is also pretty strong competition. They're growing, and they're pretty vicious.

                                              Exactly. For instance, we're lucky that the current generation of games looks like its been able to hold on for a while compared to the last two. Keeping a singular OS is hard, though why they keep radically changing major parts of the looks and placement is beyond me.
