    The Kingdom of Loathing

    Kingdom of loathing is a text-based adventure game, meaning instead of graphics, you get text, and you can only play a certain amount of time each day.

    Why play then, you ask?

    Because it is amazingly humorous, the community is just awesome, and there are tons of pop-culture references.
    Plus, it puts hardcore gamers (Like me) in their place. By only allowing a certain amount of adventures, or turns, per day, the gamer wont spend his or her time behind a computer screen and may be likely to go out for a walk or something.

      FFR had a clan/guild on this thing a while ago and tons of people played. Dead thread resides in Chit Chat :O

          Hah, man. I remember this game. FFR had a huge clan about 2 years back, before there was even ascension in the game. I remember Tass and I were among the first to ascend, and he had a whole lot of meat and rare radio items.

              Tass was a marketing fool back in the day. He got burnt out really quick, though. XD

              I remember the game got really boring eventually. Only being able to do so many actions per day just made me angry. If I could do unlimited actions and go through the whole game in a day I think I'd like it more. I definitely won't start over and have to go through the whole game and ascend again. -_-
              So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

              In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

              So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
              And I write the blog for their website.

              Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

                  I have 10+ HC ascensions IIRC. I'll probably try playing again in the fall after I'm a little less busy and all the new content is sorted out. I like having a no-delete flag on my account. I haven't played in months, but if I ever want to get back in, it's there.

                          Heh, if you think the regular adventure limits are harsh you should (or shouldn't) try a Hardcore Oxy run, you can't eat or drink anything throughout the entire thing, I had just finished my 6th and final one right before I lost interest and stopped playing.

                              I was in the middle of mine when I quit. I guess that's what did it.

                              That and I think I started playing MS, which killed my relationship with every other game I played at the time. =\

                                  Played for at least a year or so. Had about 7-8 HC Ascensions and 10+ SC Ascencions with one of my accounts.

                                  I had about 50 million meat due to when they introduced the time outfit. I had 4 accounts and so ended up being able to get the entire outfit, which sold for a hell of a lot of money. Also had one of those lucky faces that add +25 to all stats and stop your account from being deleted, among other rares, then they introduced the "casino". I got a little greedy and after making around 250 million meat, lost it all in 2 games of casino. Pretty much quit there and then.

                                          I never actually cared about it apart from the millions of meat I got for the entire outfit. I got enough moves per day due to the food and drink I had hoarded for and I didn't want more to keep me busy.

                                          Still, was a fun game. Would never go back to it though.

                                                          This stuff sounds really awesome, a bigger content update than ascension rollout, that's just nuts, I'm going to have to start playing this again to at least try the new content.
