    Literature Collaboration

I want to try and do what Observer did and failed at. I would like to have a Literature Collaboration once again. For those who don't know or can't remember, we all would agree on the people set in the Collab. Then within that group, we would decide a basic frame plot for the collab and then decide who would write each chapter and so on. Since there are so many new faces here in literature, this would give an opportunity to showcase your skills as well as flex the muscles of the Lit. Vets. So who wants to join?

    Collaboration Participants:

        Why not.

You've got my axe and effeminate elf hair.
"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."

"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor

        My new novel:

        Maledictions: The Offering.

        Now in Paperback!

Ok, I think we can make do with this group. The only other person who can join this whenever he wants to is Observer. Now for the frame plot. Anyone have any ideas? I've been toying with this for a few days so see if you like it:

                Eyes of Kronos

In the beginning of the Vampires, there were the Supreme Vampire Lords who held the Eyes of Kronos, eyes that could enhance time, speed up physical abilities to almost godlike powers, or bring upon the Apocalypse of the world. Through the millenia, the Eyes of Kronos have descended through bloodlines and different families until our present time now. Five teenagers go on an abroad trip to Europe for their Senior Trip and stumble upon an old woman while visiting one of the many villages in Turkey. They all look at the sun and an intense pain flls their eyes. They all pass out and awake at night. As if drawn by a mysterious power, they all look to the moon and transform into monsters beyond comprehension. Luckily, the old woman and a Vampire Lord help the teena transform into their normal selves. The next day, the old woman explains to the teens that this generation is special because they will unite to push back the tide of Demonic forces about to be unleashed upon Earth. When the time comes and the chips are down, will the teens choose to remain Vampires or become humans again?

That's a pretty detailed plot frame but if Mal can do Creep World, then this should be no problem. Of course this is just my idea so if anyone has another idea, feel free to share.

I just have a few questions.

Are the demonic forces other vampires, or are they other assorted monsters? Are all/some of the vamps the "good guys"?

As if drawn by a mysterious power, they all look to the moon and transform into monsters beyond comprehension.
So vampires? Or something else? Because they were looking at the moon...

Otherwise, I have no beef with that idea.

                      1. The Demonic Forces are Demons, Vampires, Werewolves, and pretty much other monster forces of lore. It's like Tales of Narnia. You have the creatures that ally themselves with good and the ones that join with evil. Some Vampire and Lycan Lords around the world fight for good while most will join with evil. The Vampire Lord that helps the teens with the woman in Turkey is one of the lst remaining Old Lords who alliances himself with Good.

                      2. I forgot to explain about the eyes. When the Eyes of Kronos are "activated" within the teens, their eyes permanently turn orange-red in the left eye and whitish-blue in the other eye. The orange-red eye allows them to boost their physical skills while in their human form and become godlike when they are full vampire monsters (I haven't decided what the vampire monsters will look like so you guys can come up with some ideas). However, the orange-red eye is weak to the sun and looking at it or a reflection of it will severely weaken the weilder of the Eye.

The blue-whitish eye is the exact opposite. It grants the user the abilities to slow, reverse, or speed up time in 1 minute increments every 10 minutes. The time change only affects themselves and not the area around them. The Eye also allows the Vampires to move with Ninja-like stealth but not as fast as their orange-red eye can make them. However, as I described in the frame plot earlier, looking at the moon or reflection of it causes them to turn into their vampire monster forms but they will not be able to control themselves unless stopped like a werewolf.

If anyone has any other ideas to submit, go right ahead.

PS- Wintergreen if you would like to be in the collab then submit your idea and why you should be in the collab group.

                        This sounds complicated.

Then again, it could be the fact that I haven't slept in almost thirty-four hours.

Look what I just pulled out of my butt!

                            The Word of the Lord

It has been speculated that this universe is all the thoughts/dreams of our creator and that the universe began with a word. But what if rather than the universe beginning with a word, the universe is the word? Far in the future, a spacecraft stalls and is sucked into a black hole. The crew awakens to a dimension of people and places of whom their creator is unaware - who are waiting to be spoken. In a world where to speak something is to draw it into existence, the crew sets out seeking the name of God. This is the story of a journey home, and of the power of words.

I don't think I should be in the collab group. I've never written anything but poetry, I don't like stepping out of my comfort zone, and in all likelihood I have neither the skill, nor patience, nor attention span for writing. I just like coming up with ideas.

                            *twiddles thumbs*

                            P.S
Sleep is for the weak. :P

                              Re: Literature Collaboration

Wintergreen's idea is quite interesting but would be rather tricky to do as a collab.

Chromer's idea is a bit cliche but would be extremely simple to do as a collab.

Hmm. Anyway, here's an idea that's been floating around in the back of my mind for a while that I've been meaning to write on. There's no plot to it, but that's the fun part - it's just a setting and it can be taken any way that we want it to go.

I hate summarizing, but here goes:

                              --

Once, it was a world brimming with life. However, a comet's collision skewed the planet's axis, slowing its rotation to a near standstill. A single day is not hours long, but decades. Those on the day side of the planet boiled to death, and the icy cold on the night's side claimed the other half of the population.

However, life was not completely snuffed out. People who were lucky enough to be in dawn or dusk were not in an environment of extreme temperature, but one of massive winds and titanic storms. The few surviving animals and plants went through unnaturally fast evolution, creating enormous reptilian and mammoth-like monsters, as well as a vast variety of cacti.

What many failed to realize was that though the planet was almost still, it still had some rotation. The survivors of dusk and dawn were safe from the initial rising and falling temperatures, but as they quickly discovered, the movement of day and night meant that to stay in the safe temperature, they had to walk constantly away from the advancing heat or cold. The survivors from dawn did not last long - the land left in the cold's wake was devoid of any easily harvested cacti, leaving killing the monsters as the only option for food. The dusk-dwellers, though, had the heat-resiliant cacti scattered all over, and starvation was not a threat.

These are the stories of the people of dusk, who must constantly run towards the day or else be claimed by the night.

                              --

There's a little more depth that I didn't quite fit in there - all of the water pooled into the great crater left by the comet, and the poles are oases with perfect weather and lots of life. Also, specifically, when they walk perfectly east at a normal pace, they can sleep for about seven hours without falling behind.

I suggest this idea here because it's a great collab concept. Some try to make it to the poles. Some try to meet with other survivors. Some try to live through the winter and see if there are survivors on the dawn. Maybe there are survivors on the dawn. Maybe one group falls into a trench, or comes into a mountain range and finds themselves falling closer to night every time they wake.

I also have some gaps in the world that I haven't considered yet. How much technology was there before the comet? How much remains available? Do the clans retain modern culture, or do they fall into past ideals?

Anyway, that's my bit. I'm up for Chromer's, too.
