I just watched the first episode. It was kind of boring, and had no real energy pushing it forward. I hope that later episodes fix this.
Also, I have decided the following:
Nayuki is bleh and the main cause of this episode's boringness. She seems to suck the energy out of every scene she is in with her slow behavior.
I hate Kaori. God I hope she doesn't get a big part in this.
The Yukari Tamura girl who's name I can't remember is too stoic at the moment to make any calls on.
Ayu is awesome, and helped to bring life into the second half of this episode. She will likely be the main reason that I watch more of this.
There is some potential here, but KyoAni needs to inject this anime with some life and energy. I'm also worried about whatever sort of garbage Key might throw at me later, but that is something that will happen regardless of what sort of job KyoAni does in animating this.

a lot of it seemed very very forced. Around the start with just nayuki and yuuichi, when they're preparing for school, every single bit of dialog seemed very forced and boring >_>. I hope it picks up, this is the only bit of kanon I have ever seen >_>.
It didn't seem forced to me as much as Nayuki ate up every bit of life that those scenes contained. Even her shirtless shot seemed dull =/

This seems to be one of those love/hate anime, based on what people say about it on the interwebs. I love it. If GARtender is a letdown, I'll still have this, at least.
Air is based off of an "h-game" too. So is Fate/stay night. So is Tsukihime. So are a thousand other shows.
The companies just add hentai to visual novels so that they sell better. The sex scenes in Kanon are completely out of place and contribute nothing to the story (same with a lot of other games). They were later completely removed in all console versions (all console versions of VNs have no h) and the DVD reissue (Standard edition). Same with Air.
Unless the game is actually nothing except hentai, it's a fair bet to say that the sex is inconsequential and has nothing to really do with the story.
