Hello, Everybody. Personally I don't like anime. In fact, I hate it, to be honest. The characters look stupid with their huge eyes and big hair. If anybody ese here doesn't like Anime, please respond. Or, tell me if you can figure out a reason why I should waste my time watching it. PLEASE RESPOND!

RE: Anime Sucks
You should go watch anime because you acutally took the time to write out your post in this forum. -
RE: Anime Sucks
Anime is basically cartoons with a more engaging experience then watchin cartoons on say Nickelodeon. Instead of watching Spongebob, I could be saving space with Robotech or fighting Ninjas in Naruto. Or I could be like you and hate Anime because my name is Rabid and I have no sense of imagination or cultural acceptance. God, stop being immature and keep your hatin' to yourself n00b.

Re: Anime Sucks
I hate a lot of animes out there. But I also think that some animes are really entertaining. Since "anime" is usually a term used to describe cartoons which originated from Japan and only used in that sense. Anime is not itself a genre like drama or action, it is just a different medium of storytelling.Originally posted by rabidrabbitMBHello, Everybody. Personally I don't like anime. Chances are there is some anime series out there that you will enjoy.
So, give me an idea of what kind of movies/tv shows you enjoy, and I can perhaps suggest a series which you might like.
Also, not all anime have people with big eyes and hair. Just as with all forms of animation, the style does vary from production studio to production studio.Comment

RE: Re: Anime Sucks
The big eyes and crazy hair are more of a joke than something to make a show look realistic.
To be perfectly honest, I was much like you about 3 years ago. I hated anime, because I thought anime was Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, etc. This was back before Adult Swim even existed and before I had a Cable Internet connection. The real turning point was when I first saw what anime could be: Cowboy Bebop. My friend put on episode 5 against my wishes and "forced" me to watch it. Of course I did and of course I loved it.
I then found out I loved anime more than American television as anime was a change of pace from the overly-clichèd style that existed on American television. Since then, I have watched over 100 anime series. Can't say I liked them all, of course. There were a good many that I totally hated.
Like others in the thread suggested, try it before you knock it. Give us a taste for your style and we can suggest something you should watch without a biased view going into it.

RE: Re: Anime Sucks
If you are going to watch any anime, you have to watch Miyao Hayazaki's stuff. You have probably heard of his movies. My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and many more. I don't have any particular interest for anime, but those movies are very, very good.
Also, I think that many animes are becoming Americanized, which is leading to a decrease of overall quality.
Here is a site that I love. It is not exactly anime, but the art style is similar in some senses. His works are beautiful, and I wish he would make movies with art like that.

But yeah, you can surely find an anime that you'd like, given the diversity. There are plenty of shows that have blown me away with awesomeness.

You need to find something you like, and ther's plenty out there to find.
One of my favorites is ghost in the shell, and if you see the second movie you'll know why. The intellectual, theoretical, and philispohical levels they reach are mind-boggling. (NOT A SPOIER I SWEAR)
Not to mention gato with a machine gun is just freaking kick ass.Comment
