Symphonic Distribution & FFR

Man, I can't believe it's been 13 years since I first joined this community haha

Well, 13 years later, aside from Producing and DJing under the alias, Underground Concept (Songs on FFR), then Polish Pat, and now uAnimals, I'm working for Symphonic Distribution as their Label & Artist Rep. We have been in business for 10 years this December and distribute music for upwards of 15,000 Artist and Labels combined (Including Reid Speed and her label Play Me Records, Chris Lake and his label Rising Music, Simplify Records, Adapted, and the list goes on).

With how much things have changed over the years, I don't even know where to begin, or who to reach out to in order to discuss possibly working out a blanket agreement with FFR and the music that artists and labels submit for licensing opportunities, but I figured this thread would be a good place to start

Welcome back! It's great to hear all the things you have accomplished since joining the community. I would be seriously interested in discussing arranging a blanket agreement between Symphonic Distribution and FFR. I'll shoot you a PM later today! It's good to see you back, and I hope you continue to enjoy the game.

That's great to hear! Looking forward to your message.

In other news, I come and go every couple months. Usually try to keep my ears to the ground in the Musician's Jungle Gym. Had some fun catching up and playing the game today; showing off to the rest of the Symphonic team. haha

                    Re: Symphonic Distribution & FFR

I do not ever recall there being an extremely formalized process for permissions aside from giving general consent, and well - you up and did that yourself, so that's a good start.

Being that you put this out there in the open, it'd probably be best if the terms of the discussion stood out here so that everyone else is immediately aware as to what the contingencies of your permissions are. Often when FFR gets permissions, we classify them as blanket (as you mentioned in your opening post) or limited -- while you did say blanket, did you actually intend on it being a full blanket permission? Blanket permissions give users the opportunity to fully cut down songs and modify them as they see fit within reason, whereas limited permissions are imposed by artists who might have certain restrictions prior to use, like not modifying the songs (see: OCRemix), or even if the restriction is as minor as "please credit us in the song list for use."

Since you're doing this as the representative of a label, this is a good thing to clear up early on, so that all of the users have an idea of the exact scope of what's being provided here.

Great to see you back! Seeing your name brings an air of nostalgia, even though we didn't personally talk all that much.

Just to clear up any confusion, we're a distribution company (not a label), with our own in-house Sync Licensing, Neighboring Rights, and Publishing Administration team. What I'm wanting to discuss is not just access to a particular artist's song. On top of us having an already existing pool that Artists and Labels can already submit their releases for paid sync licensing deals, but also having a bucket for FFR that Artist and Labels can submit content to knowing it may not generate any revenue outside of the off-chance that someone takes video of them playing FFR, posting it to YouTube, and we claim the revenue on Content ID (for example).

This isn't something we'll be able to work out overnight, but I think there's a TON of opportunity here to bring quality music to FFR and get Symphonic and its labels/artists some additional exposure. Definitely looking forward to continuing this convo behind the scenes (From there we can continue to work out Blanket vs Limited).

                      The nostalgia is real haha
