Definitely, was just talking to AJ about trying to get ahold of you. I still need to see where we are fully now that some more of the hard song's batch was judged and then we have those few files of yours from the regular batches to look at.

We've had an OT special batch open since last year. Just closed submissions on it.

In my honest opinion, take as much time as you need, I'd rather wait longer to participate in something better in quality than to release it now (After a long wait) for me to get only a tournament with low quality.

Gonna have to stop you right here on this.

New files =/= Higher quality than a mix.

You can make an amazing tourney with a mix of new and old files.

Especially when they're all files that have gone through the same process at one point or another.

IF ANYTHING doing new + old spices it up equally as much because you still won't know what to practice.

Do what you guys think is best Kayla / AJ, ya'll have never failed to deliver on a good tourney experience.

The only reason I'd be against old files is the chance of people potentially already having a mindblock on a file. It's pretty unlikely, but it'd suck if it ever happened.

The wait builds up the hype though

On a serious note, I wouldn't go as far as to say the tournament (if hosted in two weeks) would be poor but I would not mind waiting longer for more unique charts, more practice time with different setups/keyboards, and I'd assume to be the traditional few sponcons thrown into the mix which if isn't planned already, you'd have the time to do so (for flair during 1 week rounds).

imo it shouldn't bother anyone with waiting longer. It'll make it that much more enjoyable when all is said and done.

I don't know if much has changed in terms of the files that have already been reserved at this point, but like I mentioned on skype, I distinctly remember most of the lower divisions having been filled to near completion, with most of the round holes being on the upper end. And to my knowledge, the hard batch files have not been combed through yet (I know a good handful of them would work very well in a tournament setting, and if they have been combed through already then there's probably way fewer holes than I remember there being)

Plus I have complete faith that corn can shit out quality files for literally any difficulty if needed.

I feel like securing brand new content for all rounds won't be hard at all. If old files need to be recycled, so be it, but I don't think that'll have to happen.

It wouldn't be in 2 weeks. Signups alone are usually open for about 2 weeks and that would be after getting some input in this thread. Then there's the process of placements that adds a bit of time after signups are closed.

No matter what my intent is to try to have everything filled with new stuff, I'm not trying to slack off with it. But the reality is that if we keep waiting it could potentially still take quite a while. It's basically moreso would you guys be mad if we ran into a snag and had to use an in game file here or there.

i honestly don't mind if it takes a while longer, but thats just my opinion. like other people have said, i'd rather wait and have everything laid out smoothly so it doesn't feel slapped together/lacking/rushed.

of course, i have no say in whether we use pre-existing files or all new files because i've never made a file in my life, so i have no room to complain if we're short on them. i think it's fair to assume they're rather difficult/time consuming to make good ones lol.

Here's a suggestion if using old files is distasteful: Cut back on the number of rounds for the higher divisions with less people in them. This will close at least some holes, since most of them are higher up.

This will mainly apply to D7, as last time there were like 80 people in D5 and first round was SDG or die. D4 is notorious for AAA or die in the early going as well.

I really don't care either way, I'm just pissed because the last OT I played with a goddamn cast on my wrist from breaking it the week prior.
