I was going to suggest reaching out to FFR members who step primarily for Stepmania if that hasn't been tried already. Most of them are already churning out quality files that push the higher ends of the difficulty spectrum for SM as it is so it wouldn't hurt to try.

We've already done the internalizing thing with a lot of the past tournaments and that usually pisses people off. But yeah, at this point I'm going to be reaching out based on my needs anyway because I'm not going to keep the special batch open forever. It's been open for a little over 6 months, so as I see it people had a chance to get things in.


I think people are still sort of misunderstanding. This doesn't make the tournament rushed or of poor quality. We have 38 of 56 files already in place and we have other accepted files that have not been put in a slot yet as well as the hard songs batch to still go through. First round is totally filled, which adds another week to try to get new content, round 2 is missing things in the lower end but there's stuff that's been accepted now that will likely fill that out. Round 3 is totally filled aside from D7 but I'm sure that would not be an issue.

So basically there'd still be like 6 to 7 weeks to fill in slots before we hit an area that was empty if we started trying to get the tournament up in the next week. I just want to be prepared in the event something happens and we can't fill a slot.

if that's not enough, the sadistic owner will make something custom-tailored just for you under the contingency that he gets to invoke his "go fuck yourself" contract clause in all of his content; you'd wish that you could get afflicted by bmah spikes after he was through with you

(On a serious note: hi19 - you and I need to make something even harder than Heterochromia... or even harder than that unspeakable dev/null file that disappeared into the abyss.)

There's 26 accepted files sitting that haven't been placed from the OT judgements to put things a bit more into perspective. Not all of them will fit into a slot, but that 38 filled will definitely be jumping closer to the 56. We also have 3 hi19 files and 2 ilikexd files that haven't been judged in that batch that will almost definitely fill missing slots.

In recent times in other games, I have seen plenty of community uproar from pushing out content that was unfinished. So much so that one of the largest testing groups abandoned the game entirely due to those decisions.

If you need to delay things for finalization, by all means please do so. If you think in the two weeks signups will be open you can finish things up, then go for it.

You can certainly fill some early gaps and then get this tournament rolled out considering a lead time of finalized content relative to how long processing files takes. It shortens the wait time before release and gives a cushion for real-time decisions regarding file choices.

Guys, I'm not looking for more files to be sent in right now, that's what the batch was for. I appreciate the offers but that's not where we're at. I'm to the point where it's taking too much time to have to keep judging a massive amount of files when a lot aren't filling the gaps we need now. Basically it's like wasted time for me because I'm trying to get the tournament up, judging a bunch of files that don't fit just delays us more and more now.

Just closing this down at this point, I was looking for feedback on the idea of possibly using some in game files if we really needed to and it's mostly been people talking about sending files over. I had a special batch open for more than 6 months for files to be sent to.

I stated before I would be reaching out for internals as needed when all was said and done with finishing up the files that still need placing and going through hard songs batch and for some reason we keep cycling back.

At this point I'm just going to use my best judgement to decide what to do.
