Fun jungle text adventure thingie (I hope)

Alright I tried to make a fun text-based adventure here. If it's broken or I need to work on it/etc... well, then I'll have to fix that. Simply click on the spoiler for the choice you would take and continue on/etc... Have fun

    ===============================================================
You arrive in a deep, dark jungle after days of drifting aimlessly. Your head is hazy and you're a bit dizzy. You aren't at all sure where you are or why you're here. You notice you aren't wearing any shoes and you have a big lump on your head.

    Proceed deeper into the forest
You proceed deeper into the forest and discover some mushrooms. You are nearly starving to death but those mushrooms could mean your death. Should you risk it?

    Eat the mushrooms

As you eat the mushrooms you see a large snake scurry by and are glad you didn't proceed while that snake was there. Amazingly the mushrooms don't kill you and they satisfy you for the time being. You decide to proceed away from the area you saw the snake and discover a wallet. As you read through the wallet you realize this is your wallet and remember who you are. There's not a lot of use here except for a small pocket knife. You hear some chanting in the distance but it's too far away. There is a beautiful waterfall nearby

    Go to the waterfall

You go to the waterfall and a researcher finds you there. You are rescued! You know who you are but not why you were here in the first place. BETTER END

    Ignore it and proceed

You wander aimlessly through the forest. Soon it is nightfall and you hear strange noises. You'd better take cover!

    Hide under leaves

The leaves quickly blow away. Wolves find and eat you. Game over!

    Don't take cover

Wolves approach and eat you. Game over!

    Leave them be

You leave the mushrooms as you found them and travel onwards. A large snake grasps you!

    Try to eat the snake

As crazy as it sounds you try to eat the snake. You bite into its snakey skin and chew, avoiding the snakey bones as you can. It seems to be working! The snake has backed off a bit but you pursue and finish eating the snake. You have solved both your hunger problem and the snake problem. You continue on and find a path. Should you go left or right?

    Left

You proceed to the left but slip and fall down a crevasse. Game over!

    Right

You go to the right and hear the sound of chanting. Could there be people nearby?

    Follow the sound

You follow the sound and happen upon a group of people who seem VERY interested in you. Oh wait, they're cannibals! Try as you might you cannot escape and they eat you. Game over!

    Go away from the sound

You proceed opposite the sound. You chance upon a campgrounds of local researchers and are rescued. You still have no idea who you are or how you got here but you're safe. GOOD END

    Hit the snake

Hitting the snake only makes it angrier! It now fully constricts around you, sapping your last breath. You dead! Game over!

    struggle free

The more you struggle the tighter the snake constricts. Eventually you can no longer breathe. Game over!

    Wait until nightfall

You wait until nightfall. A coldness descends around you. You hear a rustling nearby.

    Investigate

You discover a mouse. You are hungry. But should you really eat a mouse?

    Yes

You try to catch the mouse but slip and fall into the sludge. You struggle but manage to pull yourself out. Try for the mouse again?

    No

As your stomach growls you regret not trying for the mouse a second time. You starve to death. Game over!

    Yes

You catch and eat the mouse. It tastes gritty and not too good but you don't care. Suddenly you don't feel so well. You ate a diseased mouse. You dead! Game over!

    No

You start to get a bit sleepy and decide to take a quick nap. You awake to find yourself surrounded by wolves.

    Run

You run as fast as you can but the wolves catch you and tear you to shreds. You dead! Game over!

    Stay there

Did you really think that would work? The wolves eat you alive. Game over!

    Stay put

You stay there for some reason. You decide to go to sleep. You have a terrible nightmare that wolves are tearing you to shreds. Wait, no, you're definitely awake and they definitely are tearing you to shreds. Game over!

    Shout for help

You shout for help thinking it may work. Instead it seems to have attracted a rather large bear.

    Run

You run from the bear but it catches and eats you. Did you really think you could outrun it? Game over!

    Play dead

You play dead and the bear comes over and sniffs you. It then walks away. It worked! Don't be too happy though because your stomach is just about killing you. You HAVE to get some food! Your choices are rather limited right now

    Eat tree bark

You eat some tree bark. It doesn't taste very good nor is it very nourishing. You die wondering if there was another way. Game over!

    Eat pinecones

You get all squirrelly and eat pinecones. They hurt the roof of your mouth, your tongue, teeth, everything. And taste awful. They don't help with the hunger either and you die of hunger. Game over!

    Eat shirt

You start chewing your shirt when you realize this is getting nowhere so you start chewing your arm. Then you pass out from blood loss and die. Game over!

    Move on

You move on ignoring your hunger problems. Bad idea! You starve to death. Game over!

    Swim further upstream

You decide to swim further upstream before going ashore. You find a backpack left here which has plentiful food stuffs. You are almost dying of hunger. Eat the food?

    Eat it!

You eat the food. Not the best but it is satisfying and solves your hunger problems. You decide to take the backpack with you. You see what looks like a bottomless pit to your left. A strange voice tells you to climb down there.

Listen to the voice. Obey the voice!

Well now you've done it! By obeying the fabrications of your raving mind you unwittingly fall down a rather large pit of doom! Game over!

Hearing voices? Must be my imagination. Ignore it.

You ignore it. It must be from the heat or some other cause. You decide it is getting late and rest for a while. When you wake up you see a man on the other side of the river but he looks almost as beaten up as you do. What's more, he's yelling an awful lot. Go to him?

    Yes

You go to the man and boy is he glad to see you! He tells you who you are and why you're here. Apparently your boat crashed and you two were on an expedition of sorts for rare and valuable jungle relics. You have your memory back at least but too bad you ate all the food in that backpack -- there is none left for him and he's starving. You find some mushrooms which may or may not be poisonous. Should he eat those?

    Yes

He eats the mushrooms and dies! Well at least now you know for sure they're poisonous! Oh well. You take his supplies which consist of a length of rope and, well, that was his only supply.

    Climb a tree

You climb a tree but there's a poisonous snake which bites you. Also you fall out of the tree and land on your head. Game over!

Use the rope as a whip and "whip it good"

You start whipping that rope around. Slinging it all over. You think you're a real cowboy huh? Are you that delusional? You manage to trip yourself and, while down, a poisonous snake bites you. To make matters worse some bear sits on you. Why did that bear sit on you? Go ask the bear! Anyway he sat on you and you dead. Game over!

    Continue onwards

You discover a radio device and radio for help. It'll be some time before help arrives though. You'll need to find shelter.

    Use the cave

Oh you're gonna use that cave alright! Use it and use it good! Yeah, shelter. ... erm except now a bear approaches!

    Hide yourself

You successfully hide from the bear and wait until help arrives. You are rescued. You managed to discover your identity and your purpose but was there a better way? EVEN BETTER END

Stick around to make friends with the bear

Oh that bear is getting really friendly with you. If by friendly you mean being torn limb-by-limb painfully. You dead! Game over!

    Use leaves

The leaves blow off and wolves eat you. Game over!

    Climb a tree

You climb a tree, look to the sky but you're not a bird so why'd you climb a tree for shelter? Branch cracks and you fall to your death. Game over!

    No

You two travel on and find another backpack. He eats the food in it and is fine. You're really a long way from the waterfall by now. You hear chanting in the distance. You see a glimmer in the corner.

    Go towards the chanting

You discover a pack of cannibals who eat both of you. On the plus side you provided a tasty meal. Game over!

    Go away from the chanting

You instead wander away from the chanting. You find a tent of researchers and are both rescued. You've discovered who you are, why you're here, and managed to rescue a friend but you didn't find any treasures. NICE ENDING

    inspect the glimmer

You inspect the glimmer and find ancient jungle relic of great value! OMG MONKEYS!!!! You later find a camp of researchers and are both rescued. SECRET BEST ENDING ZOMGLOLOL. You discovered your identity, why you were here, succeeded in your mission, and even rescued your friend. Good job! or did you cheat to get this?

    No

You leave the guy and hide out until nightfall to see if he leaves. He doesn't, so you wander back. Unfortunately you fall down that very hole the little voice told you about earlier and, well, you die. Game over!

    No way!

By not eating the food in time, it attracts bears who then eat you! Game over!

Nicely done meng. Interestingly written, in a good way.

Managed to get the better end first go thanks to my mad Bear Grylls epic survival knowledge swag oven mitt.

Re: Fun jungle text adventure thingie (I hope)

There are multiple good endings but only one best ending.

In particular, in order of what you can achieve by good endings you can:
                Get rescued.
Get rescued while discovering your identity.
Get rescued while discovering your identity and mission.
Get rescued while discovering your identity, mission, and rescuing your friend.
Get rescued while discovering your identity, mission, rescuing your friend, and finding the relic.

Getting any of the endings where you don't die should be considered an accomplishment. The further down on that list your ending is, the better. Good job!

(And congrats to Herogashix for finding best ending!)
