I don't listen to any certain band. If I find any J-rock, I listen to it once, and then I move on.

I don't know enough band names, so yeah, I do listen, but I don't know any.

Besides, I'm a muzie browser more than anything else.

This was two months before I discovered Touhou. Now I listen to Touhou J-rock artists such as UI-70, SSH or Demetori + more.

Back in the days when I considered myself weaboo (see: 13-15) I listened to all sorts of JAPAMUSIC. I can't remember all the names, but I specificially remember listening to:

Malice Mizer
Psycho le Cemu
Schwarz Stein
Dir en Grey
TM Revolution

Pretty much visual kei garbage. I also listened to some random pop stuff for kicks (pretty much anything from Hello!Project).

These days I still have a folder specifically for japanese music but I barely go into it anymore except for YMCK.

Most of if not all of my music has some correlation to the Usagi-Chang record label (Capsule, Plus-tech Squeezebox, Sonic Coaster Pop, YMCK etc)

Now all I ever listen to is acid 8)

I haven't heard any and I will certainly look into it.

I suppose there hasn't really been a definite answer as to why it's always referred to j-music. To be honest, its not really the fact that it's from Japan or singing in said language. It has something to do with the attitude of a lot of it and how the music is presented in general. I don't know many bands from other parts of the world, particularly of western culture that dress up in ridiculous outfits, play skits and have as much amazing live crowd interaction as some of the bands I've seen. Maybe that's just the Visual Kei stuff.

Yeah really if I made some sort of rock band here with the styles and attitude that a lot of Japanese-based bands have, I don't think it'd ever pass (then again, Dir en Grey has started touring and releasing albums in the US, right?). Maybe it's the language barrier that stops the general public from listening to it.

I couldn't agree more with Tokzic. I believe the denomination was set because the music is japanese and not because the bands do things differently. I know my fair share of j-whatever music but it's really no different from music of the same genre from another country. Country-whatever denominations are often used because there is a large amount of people who listen to it and refuse to listen to anything else. Same things applies to K-whatever.

The best indie artist are in muzie, it rocks,

my faves bands from japan would be Mosaic.wav, i'm addicted, Ikimono Gakari and L'arc en ciel. I don't really like the Gazette but i'm more into akiba pop|gamewave right now

It's not a matter of what to call the genre of Japanese rock (and honestly I'd like to know where you got this obscure idea in the first place). The point is that there shouldn't be a genre for Japanese rock in the first place. Besides language, there are no significant differences from a Japanese rock band and a Mexican rock band or a Romanian rock band. The only reason people differentiate is when they are Japanophiles who get off to pocky and ramen.
