I don't just listen to J-rock, is that what this thread is about? Just listening to J-rock?

Anyway I've been listening to a lot of Maximum the Hormone resently. Promblem is a lot of J-rock I hear I only hear that one song, so there are loads of separate artists but I never really look more into them, that been said a few remain like Asian Kung Fu Generation, L'arc-en-ciel, Hyde, Do As Infinity and Orange Range.

I concur that liming a music of one nationality (non-cultural) is pretty absurd, but the sound of a certain language may sound more appealing than others. I hate Spanish music because I think that the Spanish language sounds like crap. Excluding the language, it's fine, but all together, it's disgusting (to me, at least). Though, certain nationalities do have a distinct way of playing a certain genre of music. Excluding vocals, the sound of Japanese rock is different from American/English rock, but that is not all inclusive. Of course there will be similar songs and sounds, but their genres are different from ours, excluding the language. Still, to like the music of a specific nation could, in fact, make one a "weeaboo." I would love to meet the person that enjoys all types of music made in Japan, or any other nation/country/continent etc..

That's the kind of attitude I have towards all kinds of music. (and by the way I completely agree with the spanish music concept. In my opinion, spanish just doesn't have the right sound for rock, heavy or soft)

I don't just listen to Japanese music. Definitely not. I like the sound of the language and how it compliments the sound of the music. I like German music as well. Maybe that does make me a "weeaboo" but I try not to that stereotypical.

The best J-Rock bands are L'arc-En-Ciel and Visual-Kai; Dir-En-Grey

Dir-En-Grey used to be soo good in their visual-kai days..

I don't listen to any certain band. If I find any J-rock, I listen to it once, and then I move on.

Also, I'm spanish, so spanish rock is fine to me.

First of all, "lolita/goth" isn't a genre. You must be confused; we're talking about music, not clothing.

Second of all, yes, they do listen to it just because it's from Japan, or they wouldn't call it "j-rock". I listen to music from lots of countries, but I don't feel the need to label them by nationality because nationality has absolutely no effect on music (outside of nationality-based genres, but this is irrelevant here). Acting like rock is a completely different genre when it's played by Japanese people is what makes you a weeaboo.

Agreed. It would be more appropriate if 'j-rock' was split into different sub-genres. Rock from the U.S. isn't necessarily called Western Rock, so j-rock shouldn't be called j-rock. Somebody find the sub-genres of 'j-rock' and post them. Then, discussion over.

I do agree. Whenever asked what bands I'm into I just say the band name next to bands from anywhere else. It's just sometimes I have to say that some bands are Japanese. Other wise people go "Never heard of them they any good?" to which I reply "Oh they're a Japanese artist and yea you should check them out". Also, whenever I'm listening to music and a Japanese artist starts playing the tag is usually J-Something so I guess it does have it's own genre, which is silly I must say. Funny how a Russian artisit or a French artisit aren't labeled as R-Something or F-Something.

Asian Kung-fu Generation's pretty good, they've made a few hit anime songs like Naruto's Haruka Kanata, and Full Metal Alchemist's Rewrite. Nightmare's good for a more metalish feel. Bivattchee's great but they dont have too many songs. Finally for the more tranquil songs, Home Made Kazoku tops my charts. I never did much get into Dir en Grey or Gackt.
