Actually it wasnt canceled. It's production was cut first. FOX does this to prevent there shows from being picked up by other Networks as soon as a show is cancelled, that is why it took so long before Family Guy was shown on Cartoon Network and TBS.

No, I am going to bitch about how crappy American Dad because it makes me feel better and I might even get the chance to pollute some the minds of those who can think for themselves with my arrogant view.

Also, it wasnt the first episode of American Dad, it was the second, and the first wasnt very funny either.
