Yeah minimum wage here is $8.00, and SF has it's own minimum wage at like $12.00 an hour. $1,200 bucks a month would not cut it at all living here.

I guess having your share of the rent only being around 300 is nice though, that's why I'm debating as to whether or not to get a roommate. I love the feeling of being 100% independent and having a nice place to myself, but $1,500 out of my pocket stings a little. My take-home per check is about $2,300 (2 week), which isn't quite enough to cover the rest of my bills with 1 check...which scares me for some reason.

Rebirth you need to demand a raise.

        Re: New Apartment

I refuse to have more than half of my monthly pay go to bills. I have no car payment, no insurance right now (my dad pays that), no phone bills. I just pay for this apartment right now.

My girlfriend has about 90% of her paychecks taken up by bills though, and it's retarded. She works full time, minimum wage (7.25/hr) at a daycare. Makes about 420 - 480 per paycheck. Has a $200 car payment, 100 insurance, 80 for phone, then half of rent.

I guess her family isn't as well off as mine is but mine isn't that great either.

You're making $1.25 over minimum wage for a MANAGEMENT position. This is not right at all, sir.

minimum wage here is 9.50. And that's the lowest in the country.

At my work the dishwasher makes 18.45 per hour..............

mfw dominos pays 7.50 and pizza hut pays 8.50 also

I could get a new job paying more but I pretty much make my own schedule and take off any weekends I want, which I do take weekends off every 3 weeks. Not sure if want to change yet

You should just go to work as a delivery driver then. I averaged around $16 an hour or so at Domino's a few years back.

                  Re: New Apartment

Our drivers average 10 - 13 per hour most of the time, and during the summer it's pretty dead. Our delivery area covers Missouri State University, and since it's summer, there are about 20,000 less customers in the area.

Plus I don't like my car smelling like pizza. but I do understand it is more than what I'm making now. I turned down a salary position last november because I'm in school. I couldv'e made around 10 per hour but I'd have to work 45 hours per week every week

DS: Yes, rent is cheaper elsewhere, but think of it this way: The jobs pay more out here, and the cities offer a hell of a lot more to do.

tis the price paid for awesomeness

The real question is the (rent)/(post-tax income) ratio

Damn, I feel like I'd make quite a bit of money if I worked full time at this waiter job I'm in training for. Like 12-15 dollars an hour for a part time job and rebirth is stuck doing 40 hours a week as a manager. Why are you getting paid only a dollar more than min wage as a manager?

I can't even imagine working full time as a waiter though. I really don't like talking to people I don't know and it's already bothering me. Not to mention memorizing this menu and all the ingredients is really stressful.

I was a waiter once upon a time. Never again. Too many horror stories. I tip a bit on the heavier side nowadays after having experienced the retarded levels of drama that ensue on a nearly-frequent basis.

as a chef, I can tell you servers are retarded 90% of the time. the only decent ones quit early or are amazing at their job. I've yelled at so many servers it's retarded.

I'd trade jobs with Izzy if I could.

As for that ratio you posted: Rent = 350 per month / estimated 300 per week * .87 for taxes. (300x.87 = 261)

1044 / 350 = 2.98 ratio. So I make 3 times the amount of rent I pay per month at my job, assuming I get 35 hours per week. I quite frequently go around 40 - 43 hours per week doing marketing along with regular working.
