I usually don't wear shoes indoors but that's just because I feel more comfortable barefoot. My family doesn't really care at all.

i wear my shoes at much as possible. i sleep with them on when i spend the night at my friends house. even on their couches.

It's clearly a sanitation issue, and whether you care about the condition of your house from wearing (outdoor) shoes indoors. No one likes mud or wet snow on his/her floor, hmm? Even if you have several pets, there's no reason not to make a decent attempt to maintain your house or apartment. It's plain common sense really.

My parents used to nag about me walking around barefooted because I'd always track dirt after my mom would clean and/or mop the floor.

Now I just wear flip-flops. No big deal for me. I'm almost always barefoot in my room because I keep it really clean.

Nobody seems to wear shoes inside their homes in my family, my feet get uncomfortable and sweaty/warm anyway when I wear shoes for a long time.

hey guys let's have a cultural clash about a very important matter for the future of the world. who has been taught not to wear shoes in house doesn't, who had been taught otherwise does, in the middle there are the ecxpetions for personal reasons. but i don't like how you are trying to impose your view thinking your way of seeing things is correct. an excess of sanitarianism is more harmful than a bit of dirt. by detaching you more and more from the "outside", you make your body more vulnerable to bacteria, viruses, etcetera. this is especially correct for infants.
