You do know that pretty much every voter ever just votes for one meaningless purpose, right?

Some people voted for Obama because he's black.
Some people voted for McCain because he's not black.
Some people voted for Obama because he's not running with Palin.
Some people voted for McCain because he's running with Palin.

Some people voted for Obama/McCain because they saw a sign on the side of the road with their name on it.
Some people voted for Obama/McCain because they believe the ads they saw while watching football.

I guarantee you maybe 1% of the voters actually understood or care about the issues the candidates talk about. This is America, man. We don't have the time for a real election. We settle for this.

If you were to make people take a quiz before voting with simple questions about the candidates' policies, you would have very few votes actually counted.

I agree with his plan to raise taxes for the people who earn $250,000 or more a year, while we gives a tax break to everyone else who falls below that line.

Obama and I both want to get our troops out of Iraq really soon, but by doing it rationally.

We are both pro-choice.

I'm not trying to argue with you rzr, I'm just answering your questions and clarifying myself. Basically, I always knew that I wanted to vote, and I wanted to do it with as much of an informed decision as possible. So I watch the news, debates, and search the internet for information on every candidate so that I can make my decision and tell others why I chose him.

That literally shows everywhere I go at school. Also, my parents are one of those people...

Here's their excuse for voting for McCain:

He's Republican.

I know, It's dumb... I would vote for someone that would best fit as president.

This isn't an argument, it's a debate. More hostility would be presented in an argument. I'm simply picking you out because I don't like you, and you know why.

Now, to the actual discussion:

Everyone knows a Democrat is a financially more strategic choice than a Republican, any day. His tax plans are on mark. If he follows through with them, and Congress allows him to, we have a much better footing on our economy. However, everyone wants the damn troops out. I have two cousins in the hospital and one dead from being in Iraq. However, there's factors to look at other than just not liking war. If we pull out abruptly their unstable government could crumble, America could be attacked, the options are endless. We need to stay in Iraq until at least they have a secure government holding the country together. My point is, saying that's the policy you agree with is kind of stupid. Everyone wants the troops out, the sooner the better.

Squeek, I know. Which sucks because, and this is kind of ironic, it's the children that are actually the ones being educatated on the subject, who can't vote. If I thought it had chance in hell of meaning something I'd propose some ideas.

Is it not entirely possible that they thought a Republican would be someone best fit for president? I mean, I personally disagree. A Republican is the last thing we need. But, you're making it seem like your parent's are completely ignorant for making a decision you didn't agree with. Who did/would you vote for? Why? Until you back up your claims of why it's "stupid" to vote for someone for being a Republican, your points remains invalid. I am actually really interested in hearing your views.
