So, pride is the root of all problems? Or is it survival of the fittest? Or is it capitalism?
    Religion?

    There is no root.

Oh, forgot to mention. It's prohibition, that's why everything's ****ty.

      Re: Why Today's World Sucks.

So, the problem with today's is that people have been concieted forever.

The Nazi's weren't led by the idea that they were a superior race - they were led by a charismatic, insane man. Of course, you can't say insanity is why the world today sucks, because that's just plain silly to blame problems for something that can't be helped, so you nail it on being concieted.

Why? Why is thinking of yourself more highly any kind of problem?

Being concieted had nothing to do with slavery, either - that had to do with cheap labor and finding a group of people that were easily placated, not having anything to do with being better than someone else. The status symbol of owning a slave came far after the idea of slavery.

But yeah, religious missionaries... They tend to get on my nerves. After the tsunami a few years back, a friend if mine started talking to me about how her church was doing missionary work, and how good it was for the people in the death zones to be saved, and I had to ask, from the terrible living conditions, or their heathen ways?

You can guess the answer to that one.

      EDIT:

A greater irony comes from your avatar, which represents the idea that a single person can be the best ever at something - your very avatar represents what you abhor the most. Really, Pokemon is a wonderful example of everyone in existence being concieted, because that is all that show and game are about. Being the very best. So I kind of think you're a tiny bit of a hypocrite at the moment.

Giving them the title of 'missionary' is quite kind of you, Mal.

        I prefer zealots.

And it's not because I'm anti-religion or anything, I believe in God, but I severely dislike the way the church conducts its business, and I think that you don't necesarrily have to be a Christian to go to Heaven, or be 'saved', or whatever else.

It's a title they gave themselves. I have no problem calling a cigar a cigar.

Very amusing, I realized my avatar reflects this as well. Because Buckaroo Banzai is the best at everything.

EDIT: Or at least he aspires to be.

Or, you know, it's could just be the general instincts that are in all living creatures around?

You know, the one that drives you to survive because it's encoded in us from birth?

                  Yeah, all byproducts of that.

Also to add on to what Mal said about slaves...

Slaves were 'prizes' that ancient people won from winning wars. Losers would be slaves. I don't see how conceit would have been bad in that situation. Both sides were fighting to win and not become slaves; a fate that both opposing sides would have to accept should they lose the war.

Everyone is born with different skills and leadership is just one of those skills that some people have. The reason the world sucks is because people that think that they have leadership skills but they don't, then they obtain power to make decisions leaders make but they choose bad choices, take the President for example, George Bush: Power of a president who makes the stupidest and horrible decisions for our country.

It all comes down to that in the end.

I mean, think about it. In the beginning, everyone was equal. There was no order or level of status. Until some prick with a big head decided that he was above some people and thus, a fight broke out. The winner went to the top, everyone else was neatly stacked below.

That led to slavery. If everyone had believed that they were all equal, then people wouldn't have gone and made other people do their dirty work for them while they sat in the lounge, sipping tea out of a ceramic cup. But then they wouldn't be where they are now, would they? So many people have to sacrifice for these selfish gluts who can’t do their own damn work. Haul your own water for a change.

Slavery eventually led to the idea of a superior race. The Nazis were one example of this. Led by the temptation of being the best, they killed millions of Jews because of the belief that they were the source of everything bad in the world. The idea of being above others applies here too.

Then along came poverty. When people started believing that they were superior, that was a reason to step over everyone else in their quest to be the best. That drained resources, leading to hunger, feuds, and economic crashes. Half the world is probably sleeping on the dirt tonight, fearing being raided and worrying about how to live off of crumbs tomorrow. And this all started with one man who decided he was too good for everyone else.

And maybe there’s more than one reason, but think. What causes resentment among groups? Conceit. What leads people to cruelty and abuse? Conceit. What has ruined the world today? Conceit.

We need to change, and fast. If we keep on living this way, divided into levels with no care for each other, this world will fall apart.

That’s my view, but there’s going to be others. Discuss here.
The world has always sucked.....I find it fun though. I doubt the world is going to change....we're all f***ked up to change anything.

My opinion on this is.. The rest of the world has no hope, like the poor people down in Africa and Asia, I'd say its too late for them because they decided NOT to work. If they worked like us Americans, then it would be a good place to live. They would've found a way to make it all work. (my biased opinion =P)

As for the leader thing, I'd say its best to have that. You have to have a leader and authority. Otherwise disputes would occur and it wouldn't be handled accordingly. The problem with it is, you have to find the right man to lead, not a dumb ass who lives off of the taxes of the working people and make wars because it would get him money.

The problem today is that we elect idiots to lead our country, and idiots make idiotic thoughts and decisions. That makes a bad legal system, and a bad economy.

But as the world goes on, its up to us to make a change. we could stay where we are now, and keep the drugs polluting the air, make us all stupid, or we could put an end to it so we can all live in harmony. And get a better president. Because look where we are now. lol..

The blame is bad leaders, and also to my opinion, drugs.

                              Bush is our almighty Deciderer.

I've always heard negative things about Bush, never positive things. Would anyone enlighten me?

I have a feeling he might be remembered only for the War in Iraq rather than the "good things" he has done for our country.
