online petitions sure do get paid attention to

good job guys way to fight for animal rights

I honestly don't understand why people are getting worked up about this. Why don't you complain about all the stray dogs that get taken in by shelters, caged for a week or two, then put down? Because that's not a big deal, hypocrites. The guy was making a point and you are the point.

Yeah, strays are in a sad situation, but maybe if you don't like what this guy did than maybe you should do something about the problem than the guy who worked you up about it, you dolts.

      Even PETA kills animals.

      Lighten up.

Maybe the most ethical thing to do to a dying dog was to expose the horrible truth of what it's like to be a dying stray dog on the streets.

I love taking pictures of things. But killing an animal is out of my league. This man must pay the price.

PLEASE correct me if i'm incorrect BUT:
        1. Yes they are because a ton of people access the internet daily.
        2. Animal's deserve just as much respect as we give other people and animals unless you treat everyone badly.
        3. Your right we need to do something about the larger problem there is a small step to be taken here in doing this because if it's shown that he can go down for that it's similarly against the law to do this.
        4. The guy could have made his point without being a hypocrite.
        5. You're just as much to blame because as far as my knowledge provides me, you're not doing anything about it either.

          1) Just because a lot of people look at it doesn't mean anyone will do anything about it.
          2) Animals do not deserve as much respect as sentient beings. If we let animals do whatever they want, they'd just defecate and mate all over the place.
          3) I don't even know what you wrote here. Try grammar.
          4) k
          5) And neither are you. Why don't you fly to Costa Rica and take in all the stray dogs?

Tokiz, what on Earth are you thinking?

The man wasnt making any point execpt that killing dogs in the most harsh way possible was "art". If he really wanted to help strays he would have just bitched about it long and hard.

EDIT: and guys, all we can do to help is not make the problem worst, we cant "fly to Costa Rica and take in all the stray dogs"....That doesnt mean we have to kill more of them. no really, what on earth are you guys on?

              1. Yes they are because a ton of people access the internet daily.
Wrong. That's not a reason. I don't know about you, but if someone gave me a list of two hundred thousand people I don't care about that want me to not do action X, I would completely ignore it. In this case, the exhibit is in one city, and most of the people who sign the petition would never have even heard of the place let alone gone there if it weren't for this. People like this (i.e. you) don't matter to them. They will ignore you because your opinion is not worth a cent to them.

              3. Your right we need to do something about the larger problem there is a small step to be taken here in doing this because if it's shown that he can go down for that it's similarly against the law to do this.
Wrong. This isn't a small step, this is nitpicking (you know, what you do after you've solved the big problem). You are effectively doing nothing by having this man punished. Are you saving any animal's lives by doing this? No, you aren't, so step up or shut up.

              4. The guy could have made his point without being a hypocrite.
Wrong. He could have made his point, yes - but nobody would have listened to him. You honestly think you could get such attention paid to animal rights without doing something shocking?

              5. You're just as much to blame because as far as my knowledge provides me, you're not doing anything about it either
Wrong. I'm not being a hypocrite because I don't care on any front. Not only do I support this guy's statement, I don't give a damn about the state of animals - I'm not contradicting myself anywhere. There are much larger problems people should be spending their energy on, and Fido dying on the street isn't one of my priorities at the moment.

It's a good thing you remain ignorant of blatant animal abuse much, much more severe than this in other countries of the world.

Otherwise you might actually care instead of the fake-caring that goes along with the Internet.

The dog died in one day. What does that say about the health of the dog before he was put on display? What does it say about the community who didn't even bother to step in and feed it? It says this is commonplace.

Turns out other countries in the world don't live sheltered lives where dogs are sacred and must be worshiped by all. Heaven forbid an animal dies! I mean, who cares about humans anyway? Who cares that millions of humans die from starvation every day. SAVE THE ****ING OVERPOPULATED DISEASE-RIDDEN WASTE OF SPACE DOG.

So what do you want me to do, put on a Power Ranger suit and save the starving humans? oh wait: I guess it's better if I starve a human and call it "art" right? Since then Im making a statement.

I honest to God dont understand your point. Oh I get it, I just dont understand it.

My point is there are millions of dogs starving to death. Who cares if someone shows this fact as art? It would happen if he put it on a pedestal or not.

Why waste time fighting over the rights of an animal when we have people dying. That's my point.

                      Um...animals = sentient.

Sentience is defined largely as the ability to feel and process pain, and is often the requirement used by ethicists to argue FOR the moral significance of animals.

Your first statement is upsetting. Alot of people care for alot of reasons: one is that it is just wrong to just promote the death of animals and call it "Art". Now things get more extreme as time goes on, so with the snowball thoery in mind, will people think that it ok to do with africans who would have starved anyway?

That said, I so agree with you about people>>>animals, I just dont see that fact as a good excuse as too way this is ok. As I understand it, I can steal your wallet and that is ok since more people get murdered and that's worst. This example does assume, however, that more people do get murdered...but that is besides the point

It's not the fact that animals are dying all over, being true yes, but this statement strays from what is cruel here. This dog was placed on exhibit, in the eyes of hundreds of people I'm guessing of whom attended the viewing, of ALL these people, NO ONE... absolutely no one did anything to help the poor dog. Starving an animal like that is absolutely inhumane, more so due to the fact that it starved in front of crowds of people who didn't even care. To me, they are all to blame.

Yeah, because the "snowball thoery" sure does apply to ethics, right?

It being a bad example is not beside the point. You want to play metaphors?

It's not okay to make The Pickpocketting Brigade of Justice during a war, and it's entirely a waste of time trying to get single pickpocket arrested during a war.

You're just proving my point by saying nobody helped. If nobody helped, start thinking about why.

If you did this in America, what would happen? You'd be arrested. Even if the cops didn't stop you immediately, someone would see it and call them to get you arrested.

What happened in Costa Rica? Nobody cared. Why? It's commonplace.

There are other countries around the world. We can't manage ethics in other countries because that's just how it is.

Trying to force your beliefs on other people is worse than showing animal starvation in a public venue.

And just so you know, we put down millions of animals every year, including dogs, cats, etc. Animals procreate too much and produce too many offspring. If not unchecked, we'd have serious problems. That's why nobody cares in third-world sections of the world.
