D: Yeah, that's really not a good sign. It's always good to be aware of yourself and how you're perceived, and it's noble to put such a great effort into trying to improve yourself, but with that kind of comment I feel like she's really leading you in the wrong direction. :/
Sure, there is a level of geeky that is undesirable, but that level comes way beyond simply being a part of the FFR community (I'm talking like, living in your parents' basement at age 35 and never communicating with anyone in person). There's absolutely nothing wrong with allowing yourself to take part in the things you enjoy, no matter how "geeky", and spend a decent amount of time online. As long as you don't let it completely consume your life, you're fine. :/
