    Re: In your FACE, parents.

Every since I started to play more video games than I used to my vision has gone down ALOT. I need to be like 5 feet from the microwave to even read the time without my contacts in.

But whatever you say Mr. Tibs.

        Seconded.

I went from being able to see my comp screen and make out words from 2 feet away to literally needing to be 6 inches away in the past year of heavy gaming.

Upside: I can see through walls now.

It might improve your peripheral vision, how quickly you react etc, but staring at your monitor without a break WILL make your vision worse.

Seconded. This did seem kinda obvious to me. It's also good to have a light on when playing video games or on the computer. I should follow my own advice. I can already feel the effects of staring at my screen in the dark.

2 years ago my eyesight was 17/18, which is slightly better than 20/20, then I got into heavy gaming, and last month I had a checkup, my eyesight is now 23/26, video games DO NOT help your eyesight, despite whatever this ONE TEST seemed to theorize.

Sorry, but numbers like 17/18 and 23/26 don't mean squat. The chart goes 20/10 to 20/200.

Also, it's important to always keep your eye moist, especially when using the computer, reading or watching TV, activities where your eyes are open for a long time without blinking.

My vision has gotten worse.. actually.
I have to go to the eye doctor to get new glasses about every single year cause my vision gets worse, pretty fast. But, I'm sure as I get older, that will stop, and I my vision will stay the same forever. xD
I'm still too young to know for sure.
But I do have bad eye sight.. like real bad. I'm practically blind without my glasses. I prefer them over contacts. Heh.

                    Re: In your FACE, parents.

My vision crapped out in the days before every middle class family had a computer in the house.

Just good old DNA and being forced to sit in the back despite having a note from an optometrist requesting I be moved closer to the chalkboard.

                    God, I hated second grade.

I use to not need glasses. And after several several years of playing vids...I still don't need glasses. I am therefore indifferent to this whole topic. Maybe when I'm 30 and my eyesight starts to go I'll come back and complain that it was in fact video that caused it.

Five feet?!!? Ahahaha - if I could read little numbers from five feet away I probably wouldn't even wear my glasses most of the time. I need to be a few inches away or the green stuff completely melts into the black background. I am completely nonfunctional without my glasses.

I'm willing to bet my vision's worse than almost anyone's here. I haven't noticed my vision improving, but then, it's kinda hard to notice when you're blind without your glasses. I can't even see my glasses when I take them off and put them on something. At night, I always put them on the same spot on my night table so I can feel around and grab them in the morning. If they somehow fall off, it either takes me 5-20 minutes to find them by feeling around on the floor, or I can call someone into the room to help.

One time my glasses broke in half.... I had to yell for my dad to help because I couldn't see any of the pieces. He had to put them back together.

So yeah, I'm quite dependent without them. My prescription costs at least 80 dollars extra JUST because of how strong it is. That amount isn't covered or taken into account, either, so, it comes out of pockets.

But I'm fine with my glasses. Perfect vision. Though I'm willing to bet I'm near the upper end of what they can deal with without surgery/weird stuff.

I'm pretty close to that bad. In middle school my optometrist thought I'd completely lose vision in my left eye, and as I got older my right eye got worse and my left eye got better until they were about the same strength.

Wow. Sounds bad. But mine was kind of just an increasing thing. There was very little problem when I was younger - it was fairly mild. But the older I got the worse it got. So I've never had a risk of losing my vision, but I've needed glasses since grade 1.

All I know about it really is what my orthodontist said.. that my eyeballs are "a little bit too big" for my eye sockets.

It was rapidly getting worse as I was younger, but now it's kind of evened off a bit.

                                Sorry for having two eyes.

They give you a score for each eye where I go, 17/18 is left and right eye scores out of 20.

but nevermind, Jewpin is right and the doctor is wrong.
