Prospecting company Nukes4U has uncovered a large uranium deposit in Cross Life State's south-west.
The Debate
"This is a terrific find!" claims Nukes4U CEO George W. Jones. "It will provide an enormous stimulus to our economy and create thousands of new jobs. It's win-win! All we need from the government is permission to bulldoze the rainforest that's on top of the deposit."
"You've got to be kidding," says Green politician Pip Winters. "This rainforest is thousands of years old! This country needs more environmental protection, not less. And to destroy the environment in order to mine uranium that then goes into nuclear bombs--well, that really sticks in my craw."
"There's no need for an either-or decision," says the government's Minister for Mining, Clear-Felling, and the Environment. "We can preserve most of the rainforest and allow mining of a small part. After all, think of all the good that the money from this uranium deposit can bring to Cross Life State."
Quite hard I think. I want to keep my rainforrests (Dragons live there, thats just cool) but I also want money to fuel my Police force and healthcare.

The Kingdom of The Renafanfic is a tiny, safe nation, remarkable for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 5 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.
The enormous, corrupt government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 31%, but much higher for the wealthy. A tiny private sector is dominated by the Trout Farming industry.
Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. The Renafanfic's national animal is the edubardus, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the tibs.

We had an overpopulation of our national animal, the Jesus, so I had them all shot and thrown in ditches. Now minorities want proper TV representation. I'm letting the bigshot TV directors do what they want and stifle the little man =D
The Issue
Children as young as eight have been spotted gambling in some of Cross Life State's seedier casinos.
The Debate
Social activist Freddy Trax is outraged. "Gambling needs to be outlawed immediately. It's no wonder children are becoming sucked into the vice, with adults setting such a poor example. Gambling is a stain on Cross Life State's international reputation and it must be stopped!"
[Accept]
However, Crown Casino chairperson Jennifer Jones says, "What's wrong with children gambling? It prepares them for the realities of life, teaching them that success or failure is not due to hard work or intelligence, but the roll of the dice. Besides, if kids weren't gambling, they'd be spraypainting trains."
[Accept]
Lmao 8 years olds gambling. Annoying though. Should be an option to just not have kids gambling. Not completely ban it or promote it. There should be a middle option. Like, bouncers at the doors or something. I'm Supposed to have a top notch police force after all.
Ooh wow. I've known about this for like a year now, because my friends irl use it, although, I've never really gotten around to making one myself.

Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 5 million are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The average income tax rate is 51%, and even higher for the wealthy. A tiny private sector is dominated by the Basket Weaving industry.
Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Nyokou's national animal is the raccoon, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the assgrabber.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Law & Order, although the Environment and Education are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 99%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.
