    RE: Sleep Deprivation

Strangely enough, it is proven that young people need more sleep than old people due to energetic hormones (ha).. So it's normal. Everyones deprived.

I am the only person at my school who gets a decent amount of sleep. School starts at 8 AM, so I usually go to bed at around 10 PM. I get about 9 hours of sleep, no big deal for the rest of the day. Not sleep-deprived at all. Everybody else stays up to like 3 AM and complains that they're too tired. Bleh. Stupid kids.

When I do not have school, however, I tend to stay up until 3-6 AM, and sleep until 1 PM or so. Again, that's still a lot of sleep, unless I stay up til 7 AM playing video games, which I do very occasionally, so no big deal.

Wow, I was going to say Anti's friends should have been dead after a week of no sleep, but then I went to Wikipedia...

Interesting. Still, staying up for more than a day at a time is really not healthy at all. I've only done it once, when I was playing Xenogears. Heh.

Anyway, that's my two cents on the subject.

I go to sleep anywhere from 10 to 1 and my day starts depending on what day it is at school.

          I have:

Even Day - Starts at 9:10 for Me
Odd Day - Starts at 7:30 for Me

Usually I'll stay up later on Odd Day night because Even Day is next, et cetera.

I can operate on 3 hours of sleep if I want, just not more than 2 days in a row.

I usually wake up at 7am and go to sleep at 2-3am on Mondays - Thursdays. On Friday I will probably get home and sleep, wake up for dinner, then go back to sleep. Then I wake up at like 3 pm on Saturday getting way too much sleep, will probably stay up till 7 am in the mourning, wake back up at 11-12am for breakfast and go to sleep at 2-3 am on Monday.

              RE: Sleep Deprivation

I was going to suggest taking a nap when you get home from school, but if you are wide awake every time you try to sleep, then I guess that does not help.
Personally, I get 7.5 to 8 hours of sleep every day.
Also, your internal clock needs a few days to switch waking /sleeping times, so don't expect being able to go to sleep at 10 PM when you usually drop off at 1AM.

Nah, Moogy, I thought you knew Eggman had insomnia, too? He got a couple hours over the course of weeks. But yeah, Wiki.

I like 7 hours or more of sleep. Less sucks.

Anywhere from 4 to 6 hours of sleep. I'm very active anyways, so I'm usually fine.

                  Weekends 13 hours.

Meh, I always have this problem. Usually, school starts for me at 7:25am. I go through the morning as always until 2nd Block. Then for some unreasonable uh.. reason, I fall asleep. Then I fall asleep for the rest of the day until I get home where I'm still tired. But then I don't go to bed until about 11pm, which only gives me 6 hours to sleep until 5:00am when I get up.

God dang, the day doesn't have enough hours.

                        RE: Re: RE: Sleep Deprivation

Talked with a friend who is taking psych this semester, and they happened to be going over sleep cycles today. She said that cycles last 90 minutes, so it's best to sleep in increments of that. Meaning sleep for 3 hours or 6 hours, not 4 or 7. Waking up 30-60 minutes into the cycle will totally fuck you over. So, if you plan to make a schedule for when you sleep, make sure that you sleep in increments of 90 and you'll feel much more refreshed.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.

yeah I was just about to correct you eb....

like he said sleep cycles are approximately 90 minutes so 7.5 hours will always be better than 8, etc. sleep cycles are over at the end of REM sleep which is the fifth stage of sleep and is the stage in which most dreaming occurs. (you only remember the dreams you had in the REM period you woke up in. you don't remember any dreams if you don't wake up in REM sleep. which means there are essentially 3 to 4 to 5 dream sessions you have a night that you never remember). If you wake up aroused (morning wood) it means you were just in REM sleep as everyone gets aroused during REM sleep, male and female.

REM sleep increases in length as the night goes on and deep sleep (the stage needed to replenish essential brain and body chemicals) shortens. It is possible to wake up and then go back into REM sleep if you're body doesn't think you've had enough (this is known as REM relapse).

and to get to bed faster don't drink caffeine with dinner and exercise during the day.

Good. Settle your problem with pills. Or, you could try NOT napping at four and then going to sleep at nine. Your schedule would reset itself.

But yeah. Pills man. Go for it. America's youth. Pills.
