I dont know about the laws in America, but in Australia it is an offence to not wear your seatbelt, and there are heaps of ad campaigns showing the danger of not wearing one, rather graphic actually, and warning you of the fines you can get hit with if you're caught. There was a guy in year 11 this year (thats like the 5th year of high school, i dont know what u guys call it) who died in a car crash earlier this year, i used to live next door to him and we didnt get along all that great for a majority of the time we knew each other, then not long before i moved to the other side of town we started having conversations on the way to the bus stop. I felt horrible when he died coz we spent so much time bickering and not getting to know each other, and a few of my friends in year 11 and 12 knew him and were pretty good mates with him, which means he was a nice guy! But both him and his brother were killed in this crash, his parents were beyond devistated. Im not sure if they were wearing seatbelts, but from pics i saw i doubt very much that a seatbelt would've made a difference. But people, just wear your seatbelt, i dont see the point in not wearing it! It doesnt even take a full minute to put it on!Romans 10: 14-15a

Isnt that what the whole click it or ticket thing is?
Click it or Ticket can go two ways. 1, a cop sees you are driving without a seatbelt and will pull u over...
or 2...you get pulled over for something else, and then nstead of getting a "buckle your seatbelt and drive safely" you get a Ticket.
Im not sure which one it is, but i was told that you will get pulled over for not havnig it on.

Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
You could always take it to court and there would be no way for them to prove it. Word against word they'd never win, even if you were a serial rapist.

Michigan’s safety belt law allows police officers to stop a motorist solely for not wearing a safety belt in the front seat of a vehicle. The law also allows police officers to stop a motorist if a child age 4 through 15 is not properly restrained, no matter where they are riding in a vehicle. The law also requires all children under the age of 4 to be properly restrained in an approved child safety seat.
The child passenger safety law covers children up through age 15. Children from birth through age three must be in a child safety seat in the front and rear seats. Children who are four years old but less than sixteen years old riding in either the front or rear seat must use a safety belt.
I know that in the town I live in, cops often set up stings for seatbelt violations. One cop spots them, another pulls them over up the road where a number of them are waiting.
Oh, and I always wear my seatbelt. I feel unsafe without it.
