Before I took a break from FFR, I remember asking someone (don't remember) if the forums would ever be upgraded since they're out-of-date and I was assured they would be.

Well, it's been over 2 years since then...

I'm not even sure who's been keeping things running around here.

everybody stop complaining.....email verification SUCKS and is not worth the bot fix... dont push for that just because of a few measly bots...

The only time the site's forum functionallity changed since I've been here for about 5 years was when they showed subforums on the main forum, and that was after the crash. :/

I agree that verification is annoying, but it's also annoying when a lot of people's threads are brought to the bottom of the front page and soon disappear from it because of threads from bots. >.< I imagine many people who use the FFR forums only view threads near the top of the front page, and it would be a shame to miss so many useful threads because of some bots. Maybe there's a compromise that can be settled.

If FFR included captchas (those rectangular pop-ups that require you to answer random questions to prove you're human), then it would be annoying to answer those every few minutes.

When we had a lot of spam a while ago it wasn't usually bots doing the spamming - it was actual people, hence why the captcha didn't catch them a lot. (iirc)

I don't understand how some people could just sit at their computers and waste their time by spamming. Makes no sense whatsoever.
