So I just landed in Maryland. Got my big interview tomorrow, wish me luck! I don't have a lot of free time for this trip so I can't do too many outings. I might have a time slot open for lunch or maybe a little evening get together if anyone is interested; just send me a skype message (reuben2011).

I'll have a fair amount of free time during my next trip however from the 13th to the 20th (for the JMM research presentation) so that would be a much better time if anyone wants to do something :P

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. I don't know how cold it was earlier, but I was freezing my butt off waiting for the shuttle outside the airport Dx

PS My hotel room is 71F right now...it is much more comfortable than waiting for the shuttle, but it's still a little chilly :P

It was in the 40s early on in the day, but I think we stayed in the upper 30s for most of it. We'll try to meetup with you the next time you're up since you have limited time this time.

That's what I was worried about. But I've read every single email and read through the dozens of pages of agreements I had to sign in their entirety and nowhere did it say I can't tell anyone about my interview or the possibility of me working there.

nope

he's not able to say what he does specifically, but he is definitely able to say what his position would be (example: if he worked for NSA as a software dev he could say "I write software for NSA" but not "yeah I'm working on a program that finds a correlation between terrorism and favorite anime")

Pretty much this. If I do get the position, I'm going to be working with highly classified things. It's that kind of stuff that I have to keep to myself.

Ok, just a little update on this.

The interview went very well. It was a two-on-two interview with 2 of the technical directors, myself, and another applicant. They wanted to test our collaborative skills so I think we did a great job! Also, iirc, the technical directors were actually part of the program I am applying to so that leaves me optimistic that if I get this summer job, then I may be able to possibly get full time employment there later on

Also, I just came back from my poster research presentation at the Joint Mathematics Meeting. That went very well too I think but I guess we'll see when we get our evaluations back in the morning. The judges seemed to share our enthusiasm for our project and liked both the pure mathematics approach we took as well as the possibility of how our research could be applied in irl (some guy suggested our research would make for a good business model and/or to model economics which I thought was a cool idea).

Anyways, I'm just relaxing in the hotel right now, gonna eat dinner in a bit. I'm going to be here until Sunday afternoon and with the presentation done, I'm free to do whatever now. If anyone wants to meet up (possibly AJ/Kayla and whoever else), let me know. My skype is reuben2011 and I can give you my phone number if communication is easier than way
