This is arguably the most disturbing thread I have ever seen x.x

Aside a select few I find most of these creatures absolutely fascinating.
Wouldn't invite them for a sleepover but the only "creepy" thing is the gifs that Tristan posted of what they could do to humans.

Well yeah each of them is fascinating in their own right, of course. I find the golden orb weaver spider for example fascinating to look at, but I imagine if that thing crawled over my face I would scream like a little girl, soil myself and and black out. That's what creepy is to me. Not that it's creepy from just looking at the picture (which almost nobody finds as creepy as say, a movie because it's a still shot), but from the possible scenarios.

I personally wouldn't mind to even touch (provided I know the risks and consequences; non-toxic for example) or at least visit most of these animals in their natural habitats, if so possible.

Then again, I used to be that kid that picked up all kinds of worms / insects outside because they fascinated me, heh.
(To be fair, I don't think I have that child-like gullibility and sense of exploration and discovery anymore)

Re: It's time for a creepy animals thread

haha, I used to pick up every spider I came across even if they were in their web (wow I was an asshole towards those spiders for destroying their webs like that but anyway), at some point I grew scared as fuck for them though. Now if I see a spider I walk around it, and if it's a big one (like the funnel weavers we have around here) I'll just take a different route or something if it's in my path lol. I can't even get near them to kill them or scare them away, cause I'm just too afraid myself. I don't have a problem with any other animal really though, and wouldn't mind touching the other animals either but still, I find them pretty scary if you start thinking about how weird/alien-like they look or what they're capable of (like the man o war with its 50 meter tentacles that cause severe pain, imagine the spread of those tentacles out in the ocean).

Gulper eel, more fascinating than creepy when watching the video.

                      Edit: and fish
If you wanna get specific, there are hardly any insects and fish in this thread. There are arachnids, crustaceans, millipedes, centipedes, worms, jellyfish and siphonophores, reptiles, amphibians, sea stars and mammals. Only 4 animals posted so far are insects (cicada, giant hornet, tarantula hawk and botfly) and 4 animals that are fish (goblin shark, frill shark, pacu fish and hatchet fish for fish).

The spookfish is pretty spooky, seeing it IRL at the bottom of an ocean crevice would be pretty bizarre

Also, mites always creep me out knowing they're all over the place but so small.

What's cool about it : his eyes are the cylinder-shaped green globes inside his head (not the two bumps above his nose), his eyes are looking upwards.
