Going deeper, i'm going off my beliefs. these aren't yours so you probably won't agree with them.
God made man and woman to be partners for each other. he did not make man to be partners for another man, same thing with women. So homosexuality goes against the plan God designed for humanity.

science says the world as we know it came about over billions of years. cool.

evolution in the way you're probably referring to says the way our world is today is as a result of random events over those billions of years, without any outside influence.

it's the outside influence I have a problem with. For me, the method God created the world doesn't matter. He created science, so science can serve to explain. What's wrong with big bang theory? difference for me is I believe God was the one behind the big bang.

What you consider bashing I would call "holding people intellectually accountable for their stances." If your stance is inconsistent or rife with well-understood logical biases, calling those things out is not "bashing" (unless you're calling them stupid whilst doing it).

PS I've also had this discussion w/people when I was in Texas for about 6 months. Being an atheist in Texas = not fun.
