Basically it's simple. Its relatively the same for all Final Fantasy games. Depending on the save slots, what items are where in your inventory, how you use items etc, can drastically determine what happens next.

Perfect example the 100% sure fire way to hit 777 or 77BAR on Setzers slot. Whoever is right in line above or below Setzer must use a remedy on themselves after Setzer has already spun 2 7's in a row. If you timed it perfectly once the remedy goes off, Setzer will automatically spin another 7 or a BAR to nail Joker Doom at a 100% rate.

Another example is in Final Fantasy 4. Inside the Giant of Babel, depending on your save slot and how long you wait to load, can determine the first random battle outside of the save space near the boss.

In Final Fantasy 12, being unarmed and hitting a certain set of combo hits in a row will give you a Zodiac Spear at a 100% rate out of one of the treasure chests. Not exactly sure what it is anymore, but I think it is a 3 hit combo after 10 hits, then a 5 hit combo 10 hits after that will set the RNG for obtaining rare items to 100%.

Either way, the RNG in final fantasy games is pretty simple to figure out. If you can find something that is giving you a better success rate at something, it is either the RNG working in your favor, or a complete fluke that you got such and such action or event to happen.

In FFX, it actually told you what would happen next. But that probably doesn't have anything to do with RNG :/

I actually enjoyed the battle system for Final Fantasy 13. I thought the use of Paradigms and the Crystarium was very creative and organized. I also liked Final Fantasy 10's battle system as well; simple yet efficient.

This, have yet to play another game with the same battle system. 95% active and 5% wait mode, epic indeed.

Makai Kingdom pretty much falls in the Disgaea genre. Still, it's a fun as hell game and I love some of the random insults Zeta comes up with.

Can Disgaea really be considered an rpg? Like, at all? :/

It's more like a Strategy RPG kinda like Shining Force or Bahamut Lagoon, except not as griddy

RPG's are so wide ranged that they fit in different categories. Disgaea isn't so much a traditional RPG as other games.

Eh, I guess you can count it with its ability and item system, among other things, but I always just considered it a fighting game with a few RPG elements.

In Final Fantasy 10, RNG was still used for certain things. Curing is a major thing, depending on the random number to that number of cure (example healed by 2222 HP) determined how much HP youd be healed by, by the same exact Cure spell the next time it was used.
