From all of the RPGs I played (which is not a lot, I have to admit), I prefer the whole Mario & Luigi series and FFVII's battle system.
      Long live the arcade!

Paper Mario made it feel like you were there hitting the enemy with your hammer or curb stomping them. I also love the classic turn based.

                Turn Based for me.

But I did love Board Based like Shining Force on the Sega Genesis.

Oh my nostalgia (talking about Shining Force)

personally I think in turn based combat styles you have to prepare more, and if you can do math, you can strategically plan out your plan of attack to know when and who will be hit in your party etc.

Why would you put that in your signature? You've lost your signature rights for a month. (You'll get them back on March 10th, 2012.)

In Final Fantasy 4, 6 and 12 it isn't to hard at all.

In Final Fantasy 12, I've gone as far as manipulating treasure chests with RNG.

I think Guild Wars has the most lucrative and complex Action RPG combat system still. For PvP anyway. Guild Wars 2 might overtake it. It's a big step forward but it could still not be executed as well.

I liked the additions in Legend of Dragoon. It was a way to involve technical skill into a turn based RPG.
