Re: ffr on the xbl arcade

I think the Wii has more install base because it appeals to everyone. I mean everyone. I can think of plenty of families that bought it just to play here and there. These people aren't buying tons of Virtual Console games or playing the small handful of online games actually online.

360 may not have done well as the Wii, but I would bet lots of money the online community for 360 is larger, possibly vastly outnumbering the Wii. The Wii doesn't even feel like a console compared to PS3 and 360, it feels like a child's playtoy. I'm sure I offend lots by saying that. But it's just how I feel.

Either way though it would still be cheaper on the Wii. Would it be a full game though on the Wii? Then it would have a chance to do better than an XBLA game. I didn't know they had anything on the Wii Shop but ports of older games. Mind you I haven't had a working Wii in a few months. lol XBox 360 since it came out no RROD, Wii for a year and it won't turn on.

Meh. There's not a wiiware analogue, so the existence of such a game on the 360 side does nothing to prove or disprove anything.

Quick question I just thought of, that I'm not sure if you guys had ever considered, but I would think you would have at some point. ITG got blown out by Konami. If FFR was to make a console version and market it as keyboard only (theoretically speaking here), would Konami have a case? What if it is done in a way that makes pad play practically impossible, such as the current boo system? If Konami is able to prove it owns the IP that ITG is built upon, I wonder if they'd have any legal case in laying claim to the same IP applied to another user interface.

The Wii doesn't even feel like a console compared to PS3 and 360, it feels like a child's playtoy.
            What's your differentiation point? As far as I'm concerned, all consoles aren't even consoles anymore. They're merely specialized computers, and the only differences among them are specifics of hardware capabilities and minor differences in user input methods (omg the left analog on the ps3 is more to the left, while the left analog on the 360 is toward the center!). The only exception to this is the Wii; it includes the common elements of the other consoles (including the typical archetypal controller, in the form of the "classic" controller), yet sacrifices a bit of it's hardware potential in favor of adapting a special input method. How does this make it a "playtoy" instead of a "console"? When you define "console" as a specialized computer intended to be directly connected to a visual system which is used to play games on a television, the Wii is no less of a console than anything else. If anything, it's a console++;

It sounds more to me that you just have something against certain available software for the Wii. There are dark, more adult titles available, and there are titles available which do not require absurd motion controls. You just have to do a little research to figure out which games on the Wii are garbage shovelware (i.e. most of them, likely due to the theoretically lower development costs I keep alluding to), and which ones are quality titles (such as Twilight Princess, No More Heroes or Elebits). Where relevant, the classic controller can even be substituted, or in the case of some games, a Gamecube controller even (this would be Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii).

Twilight Princess and Elebits are great. I probably shouldn't have said what I said there. It's just the 360 and the PS3 feel more like the next step in consoles to me, whereas the Wii feels like something you could buy at an expensive toy store. It's just how I feel. However you look at it, the Wii is much different from 360 and PS3. Whether that's a good or a bad thing is up to you.

                Uh

The natural order is for gaming to become more and more advanced until it is an alternate reality. What do you think is more likely to be used in virtual reality? Motion control or simple button presses? In reality, Nintendo is ahead of the game here. I can assure you that with time, all consoles will have an input method using motion controls. In fact, it's already happened to a degree, what with the six axis controller for the PS3... but... the only way to get motion control on the Microsoft side is via a 3rd party controller that I'm pretty sure isn't even released yet. That aside, I can guarantee that similar technology will enter this thing officially on all fronts within a generation or two. They may still focus on standard controller-centric gameplay, but it is impossible to avoid considering this sort of thing given the Wii's breakout success (especially considering the Wii is the "low end" of the consoles, running graphics only a touch ahead of the previous generation's graphics).

And like I said, the Wii functions as a console in the classical sense just as well as the other platforms. Pick up Brawl some time and tell me the controls are gimmicky or toy-ish (protip: they're not, because the game doesn't use motion control AT ALL). Again, if there's something you're not liking, it's because of the software, not because of the hardware. Every single game that exists on other platforms could exist LITERALLY EXACTLY THE SAME (give or take a few polygons perhaps), or are you forgetting that every element of 360 and PS3 controllers can be easily translated to the SNES-inspired "classic" controller. In fact, the only inherent advantage that 360 and PS3 have over the Wii gameplay-wise is DLC abilities-- it's almost impossible to do DLC well on the Wii due to lack of large file storage. The only reason Virtual Console can be argued in favor of is that if space is needed, old items can be deleted, only to be redownloaded at a later date.

                    I'm a fanboy?

I never even owned a gamecube, buddy. The only game I ever even played on gamecube was Melee, too.

No... I was all about the PS2, and PS1 before that. I have no inherent biases, my preference for consoles are based on the merits of the individual console. This is why I own a Wii and a Xbox 360, but I do not own a PS3. This is why I own a PS2, but do not own an Xbox or Gamecube. I pick the console that is good, not the one that I am loyal to (or else, I'd be sitting here with a PS3 at my side and no Wii or 360).

                      *cough*

I understand your opinion. At the time nearly every game using motion controls just feels gimmicky. Sure it could be the first step, but it doesn't make for fun gameplay. Most of the time it's aggravating to use the Wii motion controllers, Wii or PS3. I'm sure I'll dislike the 360 peripheral when it comes out as well. It's just my opinion. I know everything you said already. So if you're just stating your opinion to state it, that's nice. I still won't like the Wii, but do understand your views on it.

Step 1: Find a USB keyboard.
Step 2: Plug it into your Xbox 360.

I know this would never happen but what I would love to see is FFR being compatible with the PS3 and Wii web browsers of course that would mean having to knock everything down to flash 7 so thats why it would never happen but still, I'd play it on my PS3
Oh I'll find things to put here eventually. Perhaps.

I'd rather see it on the 360, I can't stand PS's. Although if I had the money I would buy one cause there are some games just for it. Otherwise, 360 all the way. Cause you can't even talk to people online with Wii Web. >.> Fail. But anyway to the point, yes FFR should make a game for money and I'm sure we would all play it. As for Boom Boom Rocket, it's really kinda stupid. I thought it looked great when I saw it "Yay a game like FFR!" No.
