If you're lazy, I'll just say this: the Wii has a larger install base than the 360 does. Now, that's probably global, but honestly, the Wii came out a long time after the 360 did, so I'd say that fact offsets the 360's relative failure in other parts of the world.

And again, the devkit for the Wii is WAY ****ING less than the other platforms. I'm not sure how total development costs would be on one compared to another, but the devkit alone is DEFINITELY cheaper for Wii.

I mean, if they think there are more bugs than we can find they would say no, but looking at everything the site has accomplished nearly flawlessly, there should be no dispute about whether or not trusted individuals could help.
Then we wouldn't need to pay Microsoft for testing if we are doing so ourselves.

And Microsoft (and other big companies) will only accept anything if you are willing to do it their way. They want to test it so it can satisfy them as well, not only us. They might want to change a few things that they believe can be noobie-friendly, even if it is already.
      Out Now!

-Technically- Boom Boom Rocket is FFR/DDR.

Shame about the costs on SpinItUp. I could see it being pretty successful. Simple and Fun.

If anything, SIU would be much better suited for the Wii than anything else due to motion control.

We could fund with an FFR Bake Sale.

Try playing SIU on the Wii's browser some time. It is not anywhere near as fun as you think it is, I'm sure.

A special peripheral would be THE MOST AMAZING I think, but I would say that dual joystick would work well as well (such as what appears on the classic controller, although gamecube controller could potentially work as well), ESPECIALLY compared to having to point your remote at the screen and physically move in a circular pattern which is perpendicular to your television.

for the record... you can't have it community tested. you HAVE to pay microsoft (or nintendo) to test it. and, any bugs or issues they find in it have to then be fixed and RE-TESTED, completed with another big payment. most games go through multiple rounds of testing, and they aren't cheap.

That sucks about the multiple tests thing, but I'm not surprised that they won't allow community beta testing. What about big name games that have been beta tested though? There must be some way around it.

Still have a pool of free volunteers who can help out though. There are dozens of people on this site who would love to make charts for a game that big. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we could get a smattering of good music free of charge as well.

Yeah. It didn't work out as well as I had thought it would, but, then again, SiU wasn't developed for the Wii and doesn't have a final build to play on.

I still believe SiU on the 360 and Nucleus on the Wii would be the wisest choices.

Afro: we can have users and admins and staffers and subbies and whoever test it.... but we still have to have XBL staff test and approve it. And that will still take multiple tests, almost guaranteed. regardless of community testing.

and, simfiles aren't an issue... i'm quite sure we can get users on the site to make them. and the music isn't an issue either. the issue is the dev kit and XBL testing. as synth said... minimum $400,000.

you could test if your self befor you send it off to m$, that way you pretty much know for certain it is bug free, which will only require 1 test, and as for the devkits, you dont really need that, do you?

also, 1. you have to have the dev kit. 2. assuming that because the community tests something then MS wouldn't find issues with it is naive. trust me on this... it's way more complex than you're thinking. it isn't just bugs. it's compatibility issues, it's even suggestions they have for changing things. it's anything.

Aren't Wii devkits much cheaper? And Wii has a similar service now with their WiiWare titles.

Also, that's why you get a publisher to finance it. Harmonix didn't go up to Sony and go "hey we got this great game concept lol you like hold this toy guitar and play music!", they had backing from Activision.

I guess what I'm saying here is:

                                #1: target Wii
#2: get some sort of financing or other means of outside funding

Also: glad to see direction towards Spinitup instead of FFR (don't want to follow in ITG's footsteps? rofl), and I think I've mentioned it before, but I'd LOVE to see a turntable-esque peripheral paired with a doubles mode. That's probably not realistic if we're considering download distribution, but it doesn't hurt to dream either.

                                ps
The model working on this site is fairly effective. You could make it a community endeavor. I'm sure tons of people would love to participate in a thing such as this... You've got dozens of people making quality files for FFR for free. How much you think Harmonix pays its employees who make charts for Rock Band?
Most of the world plays the 360....nevertheless it's a good Idea.
