I'm gonna go with the SNES. The SNES outlived the 64 by about two years, and, if I remember correctly, still holds the record for the most games ever released for one system, and a lot of those games were very good. Super Mario World, Kirby's Dreamland 3, the list goes on...
The N64 was NOT the first 3D system (although it was probably the most successful; either that or the PlayStation). That title belongs to either the 3DO or the Atari Jaguar (both came out around '93), whereas the N64 was not released until 1996. Super Mario 64 was a great game (although for some reason they excluded Luigi ) and other games too: Pokèmon Stadium, Doom 64, Super Smash Bros., etc.
I don't know, maybe it all comes down to preference, but in my opinion: SNES ftw.

Video games pretty much didn't exist to me until I got my Playstation in 1997. Crash Bandicoot FTW. So, to me, Playstation was always better, until the PS3 came out. A good console, but not worth $500. Definitely going with the Wii. I never was the much into Final Fantasy anyways, and I can get my RPG fix on PC and DS.

My apologizes if this doesn't interest you but I'm just curious. Which old system do you think would come out on top. I myself believe that N64 would thurally "pwn" the super nintendo.

Iv'e had mine for so long, I don't even remember how long exactly lol.
But it still works today!
Favorite game: Super Smash Bros. the original. And Goldeneye

Edit: Zelda Orcarina of Time kept me awake for hours on end, as a child.

snes - Breakthrough. Amazing games, yay zelda.
N64 - Donkey Kong 64, Banjo, Golden Eye. nuff said.

If I had to say anything, Super Nintendo was great because of its games and N64 helped it out by taking some of the SNES games and putting them in 3D so they're both good to me.

I'm going to go a brave route and say I like the N64 more than the SNES and NES.

For the N64: I still run through OoT on occassion, and it's one of the older systems I still play and has more of the games I play. Cruisin USA, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie, and Super Mario 64. I still play it about once a week or so.

For the NES: I really love specific games more than the console itself. Such as: Punch-Out, Bubble Bobble, Jackel, and Blaster Master. I don't play it as often because mine currently doesn't work.. but whenever I can get the damn thing to place I like it.

For the SNES: It's more about classic nostalgia. The only games I really ever played for it were Super Metroid, Super Mario All-Stars, and Star Fox. But I have a working one right now, and I don't find myself playing it near as I do my 64 or my NES.

So my list is: N64, NES, SNES.

SNES is still the best system ever made. The pixelated adventures of Link, Chrono, Cecil, Bartz, Tera, Mario (+Mallow/Geno ), DK, Yoshi, Kirby, effing etc. will never be topped. Not to mention Tetris Attack which is the best multiplayer puzzle game ever. I could go on, but what's above already make it the best console ever.
