yeah I just read alot about D/P and I want it now XD which version would you all recomened(I know due to trading and such it may not matter a whole lot but I still want other players input)

Both of those can be caught in Gold / Silver. You don't need to go to an event to get them.

To get Ho-oh and Lugia in the GBA or DS games, you do need to get them from Event or get them from Pokemon XD. Remember that you cannot transfer Pokemon from G/S/C or R/B/Y to any of the newer games.

At the Events, they gave you a ticket so you could visit a special island where one can catch Ho-Oh and Lugia in Emerald, FireRed, or LeafGreen. Also, in XD for the Gamecube, you can acquire both of them and can transfer to one of the GBA games upon successful purification.

I was acctually on that site in a differetn window and thanks for the help, but I'm still not understanding how to obtain these tickets etc.

Event Pokemon are so named that you must attend a Nintendo sponsored Pokemon event to acquire either the Pokemon itself or the item that allows you to find it in the game. They use the Mystery Gift function in the games to give you the items. The Eon Ticket in Emerald uses the Wireless Adapter at certain Wonder Spots at these Events to transfer the item with Mystery Gift.

Considering all but three Event Pokemon were from the previous generation, the chances that Nintendo will still be giving the items or Pokemon from those games is slim. Getting the items or the Pokemon is only possible through trading or hacking.

Also, the chances of Nintendo giving away the items for Darkrai, Shaymin, or Arceus in the States is slim, too. If you read the Celebi page, Nintendo didn't give Americans too many opportunities to get Celebi, and it might be the same for this generation.

about the event pokemon can't I just trade stuff like kyogre, Raykuaza, and Jirachi from my sapphire version to D/P and skip the whole even thing?

Kyogre, Groudon, Latias, Latios, Rayquaza, and the three Regis DON'T require Events as they can be captured in Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald without outside assistance. Same with Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, Raikou, Entei, and Suicune in FireRed and LeafGreen.

Jirachi requires Colosseum so it isn't technically an Event Pokemon, but you need a copy of the game with the Bonus disc that only came with preorders.

The Pokemon I listed before (save for Jirachi and Ho-oh/Lugia which were obtainable through the Gamecube games) were only available through Nintendo Events.
