Nintendo and Microsoft consoles always seem to have a few nice games.

But the Sony consoles always manage to have a whole lot of them. For those who remember, the PS1 lasted even longer than the PS2 did, and the PS2 could play PS1 games, making it last even LONGER(than it would without it).

Also, it could play DVDs, a useful utility that everyone could use. It could hook up to the internet, unlike the Nintendo. It also had many great games rather than just a few, unlike the Xbox.

There's a difference between overlooking some faulty code and releasing a product that has the potential to KILL PEOPLE, or at the very least cause serious wounds and destroy said computer. That's kind of a big oversight. That'd be like including razorblades in the middle of Snickers bars.

Also, that IS why Microsoft entered the playing field. However, they did it with the intention of appealing to the GAMER. Sony entered the field with the PS1 using CD format more or less to appeal to third party developers, who at this point have more or less access to everything they could want as far as power of a particular system goes. Upping the stakes by leaping to Blu-Ray isn't going to be their boon this time. I hope it'll be their downfall, but it's ****ing Sony we're talking about here, so it's not like they're going away any time soon.

Sony's success has very little to do with they themselves. It's purely because they jumped in the video game market at an opportune time when Nintendo decided to stick with an out-moded, expensive, restrictive media type and in the process alienated their strongest supporters (like Square, for example.)

I'd say that Nintendo will be the first one to go out of any of them. Sony's my favorite, but I'll have to say it'd go second.

On my wish list:
I'd get Wii first and then XBox360

at least xbox360 had more games to it by the time PS3 came out, but ehhh, i'd still rather get Wii. :3

The reason why they jumped in was irrelevant because sony still did appeal to a vast variety of gamers because of their decision to use CD format. You already admitted that it was a very smart thing for sony to do, so i guess what i dont understand is why you are flaming them so badly if you agree that what they did was a major success.

Yes.. i openly admit my typo, but it became apparent to me that he did not know how to spell it when it was wrong in both the title of the thread and also in his first post, if i were to write my statement again i would have made 'to' into 'two' because thats how i know it is spelled. So I'm sorry for my slip of the finger but i thought it wasnt as big of a deal as having everyone who were just scanning through the thread titles see my mistake.

The thing is, I don't that companies think to themselves when they make a product, "letz scru d customoors". I know Microsoft does not make faulty scripting on purpose just like how Sony does not makes exploding laptops on purpose.

Not saying they did, but if they missed the fact that the batteries have a tendancy to EXPLODE, they aren't doing their job in making sure their product is not a hazard to the public before release, because exploding bateries are a BIG mess up. not saying sony was trying to make them explode, its just one of those "HOW COULD THEY MISS THAT!?!?!?!" type of things. The Lik Sang thing is what really pushed me over the line from "Wish they would put more time into making sure everything worked so consumers didnt get screwed over" to "YOU GREEDY CORPERATE JERK OFFS!"

Sony did excellently prior to the PS3.

They've alienated their core by making the PS3 so rare and expensive though. They can easily get by not having a lot of good games at launch, but only manufacturing so many and charging way more for them screwed them up too badly.

And did I read correctly? Did someone in this thread say that they expect Nintendo to go down before Sony? Nintendo is going NOWHERE. The Wii is the popular choice here. Cheap and innovative. Sony is on the decline though. The only way I could see them NOT losing massive dollars from this PS3 fiasco is if the people reselling on ebay are Sony employees and the profits of resale would go back into the company.

ps why did they even bother ripping off the Wii's innovation? Is it even supported by many games?

I don't expect Sony to go nowhere really. Maybe for THIS HOLIDAY SEASON yes Nintendo will totally kick ass and take names with the Wii. However, once Sony manages to make more stock of the PS3, Nintendo will be lowered to 2nd. Microsoft is just ****ty so oh well. You people have to remember that people are buying 2K-3K Ebay auctions just to get a PS3. There will be people who buy the PS3.

One opinion i once heard was that sure the Wii will do great at launch and for the first year or two. But sony's PS3 will do a lot better in the long haul, with better graphics, solid gameplay, and many other useful features. The way i see it is that many of nintendo's "cheap innovative" products always seem to break easier than any of the other systems. I'm more than certain that a lot of people will have massive difficulites with the Wii controller or even the console itself as it has been proven in the past. I just think that sony will have a slow start, but it will eventually come back and reign over the others.

I don't mind the fact that you dislike Sony because they sued Lik Sang to death. That was intentional.

Once again, I am going to say that Sony did not intentionally say, "scroo u customoors... i sell you dangerous stuff for srs". Dell built a laptop that needed a lot of power and what can Sony do but try to manufacture a battery pack that can support its power needs? Apparently it wasn't stable. Any other company could have tried making that battery and they probably would have ended up with the same results.

I'm pretty sure one of the reasons why they released the batteries was because they had no problems before. They saw it was okay and release it. It just so happens that problems started after it was released. There really was nothing they can do but call it back for people's safety.

Are you seriously trying to say that Nintendo products are cheap?

Every single thing made by Nintendo that I own is still in 100% working order despite being old and the fact that I tend to beat the **** out of things from time to time. I've ****ing slammed my Gameboy Color against the ground multiple times and it still functions just as well as the day I got it.

I suppose there are two things from Nintendo that have failed me though... My Pokemon Pikachus. I had the original one and the color one. Both went through the washer at least 3 times each. After a while, the LCD display crapped out. So yeah, I got a Nintendo device to die; it just took submerging it in soapy water MULTIPLE TIMES.

Either way, Sony's only shot at selling as many PS3s as they did PS2s is to lower the price to something that's, i dunno, reasonable for people who don't have a whole lot of money. The PS2 sold so well because it was a solid system with a huge library of games, good graphics, and a not-too-high price tag. As of right now, the PS3 has a very small library of games, good graphics, and a retardedly high price tag. Frankly, I don't think them getting a better library of games will be enough, and I seriously doubt that they'd go from selling for 600$ to anything below 300$.

Nintendo totally put out the PSP that had the square button off of the censor. And the PS2's don't crap out after 2 years, don't believe that. They still play blue-disc games just as well as when it came out.

I really like the PS2, don't get me wrong - They have a bargain bin at my gamestop where they sell games for $3 (I picked up Tony Hawk 4 and a couple other games last weekend with change from my car), so the library is fairly easy to expand. The system is just pretty crappy. I've had to get mine repaired twice, while my NES from 1990 still works just fine.
