Re: Post your video game ideas and fixes.
1) Uhoh, competition.
2) Before you were 1? I seriously doubt that as even being possible. What 1-year-old's hands are big enough to even use a controller? I started playing around 3-4, and from what I can tell, that's about the earliest that it can actually be done. I mean, can 1 year olds even crawl or talk or **** in a toilet? -__-
Anywho, being a game designer is like being a rockstar or famous athlete. Lots of people have garage bands or have quite a bit of skill in sports. However, just being good won't get you a record deal or contract with a team, you have to be in the right place at the right time and happen to meet the right people. A lot of it is up to chance. At least programmers have a huge number of crappy office jobs to fall back on when their dreams fail, though. XD
I will never work for EA because they are money-grubbing idiots that care nothing about gaming and the people who do it. Just about any place would be better than EA.
Anywho, I have a grand idea for a game (well, series of games with the last being HUGE) but I certainly won't tell you guys, since you'd either 1) not understand it, 2) make it yourself and give me no credit, or 3) a combination of 1 and 2 where you make a crappy version that is nothing like mine, but use my ideas enough that I couldn't make my game without "copying" you.
I will, however, say how I plan/hope to get my foot in the door:
1) College it up and become a super awesome programmer dude.
2) While in school and after I'm out and working at some mundane job I will likely get instead of working for a game company, I will make little games. Basically, as I learn how to do things I will make game incorporating those things, so as I go through school my games will get more and more complex. I'll eventually get a little site and host the games, and have a paypal link for people to donate if they want.
3) Hopefully while in school meet other cool people that want to make games. I already have this this friend who is an insane artist that would love to help me out. Basically, any games I'd make would start out as crappy stick-figure graphics games with beeps and bloops for sounds. Then I get friends to make the bomb ass graphics and I put them in, then I get other friends to make the bomb ass soundtrack and sound effects and put them in. I'll have to start sharing the paypal profits, if I get any, but whatever.
4) I'll advertise this site of mine that I'll make on here, which I hope you will all take and advertise on other forums. Maybe I'll get a partnership with Synth so we'll cross-advertise, kinda like Psychopath does. Hopefully the word will spread and lots of people will play my games.
5) With these games as a sort of portfolio, I will apply to game companies and hopefully get a job.
6) While working at these companies and getting a reputation there as a good guy and awesome game-maker dude, I will work on my MASSIVE GAME IDEA on the side, getting help from friends when needed. Once the game has a decent amount to it and is advanced enough, I'll present it to the company so I can get funding for it and everybody can work on it. Then it'll get released and I'll be like WHOOOHOOO I DID IT.
Chances are this won't fully work, but it's a plan, at least. And yes, I WILL tell you all about any and all games I make and let you all play them for free. If you wanna donate when I get to that point, it's up to you. Honestly, I don't care about the money, I care about making games that people will like. I'm glad now that I've established myself here on this site enough that I can post games and get honest opinions from you all. It'll be cool if these connections I've made here help propel my career later on. =D
