      Re: Paper Mario

I know a lot of people disliked Super Paper Mario but I thought it was fantastic. Chapter 7 ... the samurai village ... such a scary chapter.

Well thanks to this thread I'm replaying the entire series.

Let me summarize each Paper Mario game so you can be the best Mario evar.

Paper Mario - Defense/Power Badges with Spike badge and maybe a few P-Up/D-Down. Your Mario is now god.

          Paper Mario: TTYD -

STEP 1 - Trade your stats so you'll always be 5 HP

STEP 2 - Equip as many badges that give you extra attack power when in Danger/Peril

STEP 3 - One shot everything in your path. Your Mario is now god.

Oh no no I love mini Yoshi too. :') He's just kind of useless in certain fights. :/ Like enemies that have any +defense. I also adored Bow from the first game but same concept as above. :c

              LOL

So true. I use a different strategy usually. For later though I pretty much just used Bombettes Power Bomb. Had Quick Change incase of flyers for Air Raid, or Fan Smack for the ceiling enemies. Fp the entire time for levels. Hp occasionally but never need more then 20 hp imo. Bp only need 24. 12 for the Power Plus, 4 for quick change, 3 for mega quake, 2 for power bounce, 3 for mega smash. Paper Mario done. Between bombette and mario 15 damage on all for 13 fp.

TTYD I just used fiery jinx and mega quake, same strategy.

Theres never enough enemies to deplete your fp completely. Also they tend to give you more then enough items. Plus Recover/Sweet Treat or Feast.

I'm thinking of buying a 3DS solely for the purpose of getting the new Paper Mario game. TYD is literally among my top 3 favorite games evaaaar.

Another thing I enjoyed doing after so many playthroughs of it is going to the Pit of 100 Trials the moment you can and trying to get through it. You level up nearly every battle and get to reheal, and it becomes pretty difficult at the end.

                  Re: Paper Mario

Yea very true. Especially if you go in the pit early. I think the earliest you can is once you get the 2nd upgrade for Mario in Hooktails Castle. You can just leave, and head straight for the pit.

I remember doing that once...the exp you can get is insane. And items make it that much easier since your kinda handicapped lol.

You should definitely get a 3DS Awesome system, one of my favourites. Plus like you said, Paper Mario on the go. What more can you want? lol

                    Re: Paper Mario

Yeah, also there's a few other titles I'm really excited to play that have already come out, so I'll definitely be getting one as soon as possible.

I usually wait until after I beat Hooktail, because that Earthquake attack is ridiculously unbelievably crazy helpful when you're in that pit. Either way, always a good time. I actually haven't tried the strategy of doing 5HP and loading up on Mega and Super Rush badges, so that's happening next playthrough

Damn, they're releasing another Paper Mario on the 3DS? Looks like I'm gonna have to get one too!

Also, to those who've played TTYD and not the original 64 version, I strongly encourage you to do so! While they're both really good, I feel that the original has a slight edge when it comes to getting enjoyment out of the game (I love TTYD to death, it's just that I found a couple of sections slowed the pace a bit whereas the original always held my firm interest).

                            Re: Paper Mario

                            Going to say right now.

In TTYD, my 2 favorite sections/chapters is...

                            Glitzville

                            and

                            When you're on the train.

These two are by far my favorite as it they do something kind of unique that other RPG's don't do. It was just something new, haha.

The chapter though I really didn't like, despite me liking the character from thereon from that section, is when you're in Twilight Town. That chapter... was just UGH. Especially the enemies. Don't you dare tell me on your first playthrough of that section you didn't get wiped out because those $#@^ing Dayzees made you fall asleep which made you unable to defend after that. So they could keep making you sleep for more turns.

I loved both towns personally. I don't know what it was, but I found myself looking forward to getting back to Rogueport, I just liked the atmosphere of it for some reason. Also, the seweres are awesome, which I found much better done in the N64 version.

I'd have to say my favorite level of all the times was the Tubba Blubba level in N64. Amazingly done, and the Star Power you get at the end is really rewarding (7 damage to all enemies)

I agree with Glitzville being amazing as well; definitely my favorite of TTYD. As far as storytelling goes, I absolutely loved the way they did the Shiver City level in N64 version and the train level in TTYD. Both were humorous and very entertaining, and the enemies were some of my favorites to fight against.

                                Whooops, got a boner.
