I thought that I had put that in there, well, if we have enough people then yes, if I get elected, and there isn't enough come voting time, I'll drop it to one kill.

RE: Re: RE: TWG 16: Host Signups

I cannot even begin to elaborate on the surfeit of ill-founded ideas that your game plan entails, TPS...I do not think you understand the concept of balance.

You balance a game by reducing the number of variables on each side, not by increasing them.

      It's like algebra. 4x + 8 = 2y is a lot easier to solve for all x and y than 4x + 3y + 8z = 8x + y + 9z (I don't even know if that equation HAS any real solutions, but you get the idea.)

Before I started TWG 1, I went to the library and sat down for about an hour with pen and paper trying to figure out the correct balance of wolves and humans. I did the same thing before TWG II.

And here you're telling us that psychic + seer + guardian + masons = 3 wolves + 1 master + SECRET TWIST OMG? You ask us to "trust you" that the game will be fair, but I see no reason to take you on your word considering:
      1) you have never hosted a TWG before
      2) your liberal application of special roles strongly suggests that you have little idea of the concept of balance
      3) you will not even tell us the nature of the "secret twist"
      4) you essentially are asking us to put all of our confidence in this "secret twist" despite the fact that on the surface the game seems impossibly stacked.

Infiltration succeeded because I developed the game publicly. There were no hidden secrets in Infiltration - even the secret rooms I revealed the nature of before hand. People knew what they were getting into.

People knew what they were getting into in the tribal game too - it seemed more attractive on the surface than it actually turned out to be.

But you're asking us to participate in a game the very nature of which you will not reveal to us. Whatever your "secret twist" is, it would have to be brutally powerful to offset 3 blues and 3 masons, thus changing the nature of the game enough that it might even warrant a separate term (like Manhunt) to describe it. But you won't tell us what it is.

      I refuse to accept this.

It is brutally powerfull. I guess you don't understand the consept of, "Cant reveal it or it will kill the purpose". I understand balance, 3 masons equals about one seer, this will greatly hurt the wolves blah blah blah...Why do you have to be so stubborn in your ways. Try something new, get into something unknown, stop always going on what is known. Try to see who has the best ability to improvise. Who can react and adapt to changes in a game. This way, no one can get one plan going. This game will be fair, this game will be fair, this game will be fair. I don't know how many times I have to say this. How can you say it won't be fair if you don't know the twist.

        Give this a shot.

Alain and I so far. I can't tell anyone else, it would ruin it. You have to understand this. You are all not voting me because you think that my plan will not solve the balance issue, though I purposely created an inbalance in roles to fit the plan, not the other way around. I know my plans have backfired in the past, but some have worked as well. Lynching 87X in TWG V to win, wanting to lynch Hans when he was the last wolf, based of the whole Blah Hans thing. Keeping innactive last game. Trust me, if it backfires, I will NEVER run for host again.

No, no it doesn't. The two have entirely different purposes, and when there's an actual seer in the game, 3 masons becomes WAY MORE FREAKING POWERFUL (seer a mason and you get all 3 in your alliance.)

Similarly, the seer/mason combo is weakened by the presence of a master wolf, as it then takes 2 seerings to determine the masons with 100% accuracy. This idea of "the presence of other roles affects the power of other roles" seems to elude you.

I have no way of knowing if your idea is balanced or not. What I question is your ability to balance the game. You have never hosted a TWG before and now plan to revolutionize it. From the posts you have made, you seem to demonstrate poor ideas of balance.

              This cinches it:

              [15:36] Evan: Let's make a deal.
[15:37] Evan: Tell me your secret twist.
[15:37] Evan: If I think it will work, I'll approve it in the thread and sit out this game.
[15:37] Evan: Without revealing what it is.
              [15:37] Evan: Deal?
[15:37] TPS: If you don't approve, it will never be put into play
              [15:38] Evan: You're probably right.
              [15:38] TPS: If I wait
              [15:38] TPS: Then I have a chance
              [15:38] TPS: If you apporve
[15:38] TPS: I do it now
              [15:38] TPS: Hmmm
[15:38] Evan: So you'd rather they proceed ignorantly into a game that you're worried won't work?
              [15:39] TPS: I'm not worried
[15:39] Evan: So let's hear the idea.
[15:39] TPS: I'm not sure on how you will percieve it
              [15:39] TPS: Ok
              [15:39] TPS: [Reveals idea]
[15:41] Evan: Badly, badly broken in favor of the wolves.

Chardish. I swear, if I have to suffer through another jTWG I'll kill myself.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

It looks like chardish is winning this time, but I'm voting Guido. A manhunt game would be fun.

There is no MW, and when the Seer seer's someone, there role is revealed, not just human, so it does balance out.
